The man who brought us multiple great cult classics about thirty years ago but lately hasn't done shit is directing
Burke and Hare, set to come out later this year. Discuss anything you want.
PS: It /almost/ costarred David Tennant, but Andy Serkis is awesome too.
EDIT: OH MY GOD ITS GONNA HAVE CHRISTOPHER LEEE

I honestly can't understand why no one else is excited about this.

I'm not excited because, in my opinion, John Landis is not a talented director, although the cast is ace.

:/
You are entitled to your opinion, of course.
I'm curious; do you think those are good movies that overcame their director, or just bad movies?
EDIT: Yeah, all those British actors have me frothing at the mouth, if that's an okay image to apply here.

Well, they're good scripts, with completely unnotable direction. Moreover, the former and latter aren't as good as many seem to think they are. Blues Brothers is genius.

I'll put aside his directing ability, then. But he wrote An American Werewolf In London, and co-wrote The Blues Brothers.
And I've never understood the hate on Animal House, or the knock that it's just a cheap frat comedy. It /invented/ cheap frat comedy in a memorable way.

My knock on it is that it just oozes stupid; it's national lampoon, the characters are stupid ( I mean in terms of the story.) and the jokes and plot are ultimately "turn off your brain and laugh" dog that isn't a knock on that sort of movie. But it's also quite popular. And popular and bad is a bad combination for your run-of-the-mill internet user.
An American Werewolf in London is a fine movie, and I did not realize he had written it, so I have no knocks on that. And as far as The Blues Brothers go, we're not in it for the writing or the direction, you know?
All of this is to say that, outside of Three Amigos and the ones named here, he's done a lot of bad or mediocre films so his name does not have the cache you implied. And this movie needs at least a trailer before most are going to be interested, which probably explains the silence. It still has an ace cast. (Except for the girl. She's ugly and retardo.)

Fair enough, although Animal House in my opinion has always had some smarter overtones that contributed a little satire to the generic frat-boy plot. (There aren't any other good NL movies, though.) The main reason I made a solo topic for this is that Landis hasn't done anything since the disastrous BB2000 -- it's been a long, long time. Plus I noticed this new movie somewhere, then looked up the cast and flipped shit because all of those actors are superb. It just needs some Alan Rickman ... he'd be perfect.
