If you clicked because you know about the infamous NaNo; congrats!
If you clicked because you /don't/ know what the funny-sound NaNo thing is - I'm about to fill you in.
NaNoWriMo is National Write a Novel in a Month, set for the month of November. The fun about this is there is no editing involved; you just write. When you sign up for the site you can choose your 'word count'. You write in a text-editor, such as Microsoft Word, and copy/paste it into a little box on the site. It counts the words and proudly displays it on your profile for all to see. Once you've reached your set word count you earn a (I know this:) a certificate, and something else. (I know there's something else, but they rotate every year).
They have a Highschool site and an Adult site for writing. The only difference is the Highschool standard for word count is 10k, and the adult is 50k. These can be changed as much as you want, so don't worry. Last year I did the Highschool one, and upped it to 30k. The cool thing about this though is once you have people on the site, you can create an 'online class' of sorts. You can join the class and monitor everyone's word count. I'm going to be doing the Adult, maybe, or just up the HS to 50k.
Has anyone heard about this, or want to join? I'll have links in a bit.
