Getting all gold as a goal? Time vs gold vs score ?

Hi all. Again I'm coming from a background of N+. One of my favorite ways to play, in fact pretty much the only way I ever played the game was to set a goal for myself of collecting all the gold in every level. This made it much more challenging.
However, I really wish the game had a check box somewhere which showed "Yes, you got all the gold on this level". My way of keeping track of it was not finishing an episode unless I was sure I got every piece of gold.
So my question is: Does Nv2 have anything in place to keep track of whether you have collected the gold or not? In my ideal N game, it would keep track of stats separately, such as this:
Best time:
All gold collected:
Best score:
I just did a little testing, and it looks like N2 doesn't do this either. I think it would be a much deeper game if it kept track of those stats separately.. Because then you could challenge yourself to speed run the level, OR get all the gold. Or both, OR get highest score.
I understand the score is a combination of fastest time + getting gold along the way (depending on the level, whether it is worth the tradeoff for time spent collecting the gold)... However to me I wish there were other ways to measure performance as well.
So also my question is: Does the game keep track of your scores in "Play game" mode, or only in "Levels" mode?
Does it even show whether or not you have completed an episode in "Play game" mode? It looks the same to me after I have completed episode 00.
Hm. I wonder if there is anyone else who also likes to get all the gold, regardless of whether it increases your score or not? For me a lot of times the challenge comes from performing crazy evasive maneuvers to get all the gold while you are being shot at by lasers, rockets, etc. :)
Thanks for any help & input!
