I'm confused as to who Baidu (spider) is.

Baidu is one of the internet's crawlers. All of the main search engines and indexes have one. (After LittleViking registered the forum, About 50 of them came were attached to the forum (which is why the user numbers skip from 2 to 53). Google has one, Ask has one, I bet even Bing has one. All they do is sit quietly and index the forums so that if they ever crash we can back them up.

So yeah.

He's my friend. He helped me once with the sale of a home. Baidu is a nice dude.

You could even call him a BaiDUDE.

not really. they will have cached versions of pages but if the forums crash and we don't have a db dump we're kinda hosed

so i just made a backup now just in case thanks aids (y)
