Woot! Decimalised time!.png
Best time settings ever. Keep them, and let members see them when they log on, because at the moment you only see them when you're logged out.

:D

If you want to use that time format (it's the day of the year and the time in beats), go to your User Control Panel > Board Preferences, and select Custom... from the My date format dropdown box, and (if necessary) enter

Code: Select all

z/Y @B
in the box.

I totally do not understand the point of Swatch Internet Time.
The whole idea behind time zones is to allow people to tell what part of the day people around the world are in. Removing time zones does not simplify this, but actually imposes an additional overhead on me to derive that information from a ridiculously uninformative figure.
If you tell me, for example, that it's 10:00 AM, Tokyo time, I know everything I need to know. But if you tell me that it's @80 or what the hell ever, I now have to recall that midnight in Tokyo was around @660 and that noon in Tokyo is @166, and from that sorta figure that Tokyo is experiencing late morning, or something close to it.

And just now I got hit with deja vu. Have I ranted about this before?

maestro? Swatch Internet Time is meant to be the same around the world. Surely it shouldn't change when we alter the timezone settings in the user profile.

There's the possibility that it's improperly implemented Internet Swatch Time.

Swatch Internet Time is indeed retarded.

You're not changing the timezone settings, you're changing the format that the time is displayed in.

What I mean is:
It is currently 162/2010 @821
*Goes to ucp and switches Daylight Savings mode to ON*
It is currently 162/2010 @863
*Switches timezone to -12 and removes DST*
It is currently 162/2010 @322
(etc) It's not meant to change when we do that.

[edit] My point still holds. It's still not meant to change when we do that.
