When I started playing N I was totally in it to win it (even though I sucked). The contests were what kept the game fun until I actually started making better maps. But since then I've missed all of the fun contests. I'm no good at high-scoring, making cool pictures on my computer, or even just talking; seeing the contests play out, and participating in them was the best thing about this forum in my opinion. The competitive edge in this game is almost gone for me and maybe others like me. Yes, now we have NUMACON, and its great that so many people are involved, but that only happens once a month.
Now I just think the forums are boring, and I really wish I didn't have to say that.

Join #n-highscores, you'll find some competition on numa maps there.

Hi there, boys and girls! Your friendly neighborhood mod here to remind you that if you're complaining about something without doing anything to fix it yourself, you probably have no right to be complaining in the first place!

That's all for now! You play safe, boys and girls!

I've tried to start several contests, they all failed epic-ly.

Yeah, don't listen to him. You're doing the right thing in asking the popular forum members to start contests; after all, their contests are always the ones that succeed.
If fact, I think I may start a contest. I'll think about it.

I miss the Caption Contest. That was fun.
I won once out of about 30 weeks in which I participated, and that made it totally worth it.

As to N contests... talk with some other forum buddies and get them in on it? If you've got a few people behind you - especially if you happen to have a well-known mod - you're bound to get it off the ground.

No one participates in contests. We've restarted NedCon a number of times, the NTTS a number of times, the MNNM a number of times, and (I think) the TMMLT once or twice. All have failed miserably. No one gives a shit about contests. Even contests sponsored with prizes that myself and the remainder of the Admin Staff / Cool Kids Club have put up fail miserably. It's just how it goes.

Administrong failed because I became depressed at how fucking passive everybody is about this shit.

I send you a PM, you send one back. I don't care if you are not done your fucking map. I will throw you out. Do not send me a map two weeks after the deadline.

Cunts.

You become a "popular member" of Metanet because you continue with your exploits until they start to succeed, not the other way around. I couldn't count the number of failed projects I've started on both hands and Kablizzy couldn't count his with with both hands and all the hands of his victims.

Then I will continue in my exploits until I almost get fucking banned for it or something. (then maybe i could make a cool contest people would like)

And I agree with Inspired, Administrong was a great idea, and really fun while it lasted.

The Caption Competition was great - does anyone want to bring it back? I would, but everyone always says this I wouldn't have the time to do it.

I dunno, I could count the number of community projects I've started on my right elbow (hint: the count is zero elbows).
