What is the "Congrats to ____ ____ ___" thing at the bottom for? Why are they being congratulated? What happens?

Birthdays.

Actually, contrary to popular belief, it is in fact NOT their birthdays. In actuality, it's the sheer number of people they've murdered without the police arresting them. It's quite the achievement really.

I see that Donfuy has reached 19 murders. I am impressed.

And boy are those spam bots vicious. Most of them have 40+ murders.

More on topic, since most of the spambots have 40-ish as their age, could we just auto-ban anyone with an age over 35 or something? Obviously, if we have any real members that are over 35, they'll be added to a do-not-ban list. That'll only be a couple of people, if any, though.

Thing is, they wouldn't have to. What if I wanted to see what was happening here in 20 years? See if it's still going? Maybe make a post or two?

Alternatively, we could just add every 'real' member to list in case they change their age, or they actually age.

Requesting English secret admin to spend a significant portion of their time cleaning up bots. -_-

Oh, really? I've been banning at least one bot every time I've visited, which has usually been slightly more than daily. And I thought I was being diligent.

After the 100th spam post that I deleted, I sort of gave up.

The past /five/ times I've been on the main forum page, at least one bot has been on. It's a pandemic, doc.

If you are only visiting daily you are seeing about a tenth of them.

The bot problem exists because the captcha currently being used has been long solved by bots. That issue exists because our system is way out of date, so someone with ftp access needs to dive into the admin control panel and update stuffs.

'Fraid that's only LV and whomever LV has conspired with for the Forum's benefit over the past year and a half or so.

I believe Slappy also has the requisite access. If he reads this and has the time, updating the phpBB software should allow us to install reCaptcha, which should significantly lower the number of bot registrations. Which happen to be asymptotally approaching 100% of all registrations.
