DEFCON is an annual hacker conference held in Las Vegas.
DEFCON 18 is coming up in a matter of days.
I'm driving over with a couple of friends, and I know a few other people who are going to be there.
Can I expect to see any of you losers there?

Oh, sweet. Does this mean you're participating in one of the contest thingies?Tsukatu wrote:DEFCON is an annual hacker conference held in Las Vegas.

Probably not. Any of my serious interest in information security is less than a year old, so I'm actually quite a bit behind relative to these other people. I'm banking on the facts that I'm quick to learn and that I'm willing to sit down and read lots of really boring crap (which 99% of computer nerds I know can't bear to do).SBD wrote:Oh, sweet. I would be interested, but, you know, it's in Vegas... and I'm in Auckland without much money, so I won't be there. Be sure to spam up something along the lines of THIS WAS AWESOME THIS WAS NOT, yeah?

How do you know that God didn't intend for humans to be the animals' caretakers? He might be appalled that He gave us these animals to use and we're fucking eating them. - Tsukatu

i have a friend who attends these, and i could probably hitch a ride up with him, but i am not a fan of las vegas and $140 to meet tsukatu is a bit steep.

Still cool. Also I think they have stuff like horseshoes and whatnot if you get bored. Maybe you could win a stuffed animal of some sort.Tsukatu wrote:Probably not. I approached the guys who make DEFCON to see if they wanted to crossover, but they said my apartment was too small of a venue.hairscapades wrote:This conflicts with Metacon2010.

Heh, yeah, there were, like, 10,000 attendees. Besides which, I don't think your party would've accommodated the gigantic rave at the penthouse on Saturday night (with "bendy girls! (21+)").SlappyMcGee wrote:I approached the guys who make DEFCON to see if they wanted to crossover, but they said my apartment was too small of a venue.hairscapades wrote:This conflicts with Metacon2010.
Anyway, this convention was bitchin', particularly in the sense that you're a bitch if you didn't go.
Also, I won an NSA shotglass for my superior knowledge of cryptography.
EDIT:
I completely forgot to mention: On the road trip to Las Vegas, I missed a turn and ended up driving to Victorville, CA. I was going to try to contact LV for a surprise visit, but then I remembered he was at FuckingLamerCon.
