No, it couldn't be 25, could it? I thought 80 was functionally retarded, and that 60 was non-functionally retarded. Seems to me that something even as high as 40 is approximately animal intelligence, which makes 25 something like broccoli.

Wikipedia says it used to have a use in science, and that when it did it was < 30 IQ. Now it's not used scientifically, but colloquially, so the < 30 IQ definition is no longer valid.
An IQ of 30, also according to Wikipedia, would put someone at "Severe Mental Retardation."

Seems to me like an idiot is someone on the lower end of the intelligence spectrum but who isn't actually psychologically retarded, which would put one in the 70-100, if you ask me.
