2. Hang out with Austin more. You and he will be best friends.
3. Google "Kablizzy" and get to know him. It'll be one of the smartest things you do.
4. Ask out the girl you meet in high school, since it's pretty obvious you two both like each other.
5. Don't slack off in school; mom and dad are paying for your tuition, so do them proud.
6. Bug the shit out of mom and dad to teach you how to drive. It's one of the most important things you'll need to do.
7. Buy a cell phone for yourself; Mom and dad never will.
8. Improve your relationship with mom and dad; they love you, even if it may not seem like it.
9. Get a Facebook ASAP. Connect with everyone you know.
10. Learn to study, and then study. You need to know how to.
11. Get dad to help you start a website. Use it to put your name out and practice your writing skills.
12. Prepare for your future now, because before you know it, you will be writing this very letter.

Yeah, but there's a Time Paradox Paradox that should prevent any action you take on the past affecting the present or future (because it has already done so). So we're probably okay. Or maybe not.Awesome67 wrote:What exactly is a paradox?Drathmoore wrote:I'd send myself a message saying "Hello".

Yeah, Jean's got a point. It was already going to happen, so... Yeah. ANYWAY.
"Dear ten year old Alex,
Well... Don't get all pissy about moving to North Carolina, it's one of the best things that will ever happen to you. Also, start saving up to buy a camera. you're going to need it in a few years.

Yeah... that's the jist of it. Off the top of my head, that's all I could think of. :/

To answer your question Awesome, a Paradox is something that conflicts itself, or doesn't make sense in any way. For example, the classic grandfather paradox (which applies quite closely to this thread): If I was to go back in time and kill my grandfather, then the very basis of Time itself would be shreaded if I was to succeed. As, if I was to succeed, it would create an alternate timeline where my grandfather would be dead. So, when the time came for me to go back in time to kill my grandfather, I wouldn't; he would already be dead. Therefore, my grandfather wouldn't be killed, reverting it back to the original timeline, where I would go back and kill my grandfather...
Confused? Good.
Hmm... There is the theory that you cannot change the past if you were to go back in time - something would always stop you. And there's theory that if I was to go back in time and kill my grandfather, I would not be killing my own grandfather, but the grandfather of an alternate variation of myself. Something like that...jean-luc wrote:Yeah, but there's a Time Paradox Paradox that should prevent any action you take on the past affecting the present or future (because it has already done so). Dear Younger Pheidi,
You're more athletic than you think you are. Within the coming year, you will take up cross country and get totally into running. It's gonna be awesome, but remember to take good care of your knees and shins. Otherwise, they will get hurt and prevent you from running for extended periods of time later in your career. This will make you very unhappy. Stretch, strengthen, ice, everything. Get yourself orthotics before your poor anatomy hurts itself during sophomore year. In the future, we've already run a mile in 4:34. Consider that the time to beat. Now go get fast.
Also, never settle for what's easy or immediate over what you truly want. In a few years, you'll know what I mean. Hell, you probably already know what I mean.
Actually, as a general rule of thumb, know that if you want something badly enough, there is no room for fear. You will still feel it, but it can't stop you from chasing your dreams. Don't hesitate. You truly can do anything if you would only try.
Much love,
Your Older Self

Dear me,
I would be delighted to feel my flesh tingling under your hand. I wish you would smack me or flog me even. Not in play, dear, in earnest and on my naked flesh. I would love to have done something to displease you, something trivial even, perhaps one of my rather dirty habits that make you laugh: and then to hear you call me into your room and then to find you sitting in an armchair with your fat thighs far apart and your face deep red with anger and a cane in your hand. To see you point to what I had done and then with a movement of rage pull me towards you and throw me face downwards across your lap. Then to feel your hands tearing down my trousers and inside clothes and turning up my shirt, to be struggling in your strong arms and in your lap, to feel you bending down (like an angry nurse whipping a child's bottom) and to feel you flog, flog, flog me viciously on my naked quivering flesh!!
