Well, I had just woken up and my mom is standing crying in front of our TV, and my dad says "There was a really bad accident in New York." I was in fourth grade at the time, and was 10 years old. Then when I got to school (I went to a private Catholic K-8 school), all the kids were talking about "that New York crash." One of my most vivid memories from that day is my best friend's mom telling me not to mention the incident to another girl in my class "for fear of traumatizing her." My principal got on the intercom and we all said a rosary for the victims, and from there on out school continued as usual.

This year my school's football game against our 80+ year rival falls on the 11th (today) so there is a lot less enthusiasm then there usually is. Especially since it's my senior year. Just my luck, right?

I was in Washington D.C., at the Dupont Circle... embassy suites, I think. Strange day, so much in D.C. shut down for security reasons.

Truly an amazing day in American history. When this happened, I remember that after my teacher had been informed (Ms. Soltis was her name), she began sobbing at her desk. My classmates and I, some of my closest friends, watched, befuddled as to what the eff was going on. The entire day is a blur to me, but I must say that now that I have a better understanding of the event, I have a sincere sorrow for the 2000-some victims that lost their lives and/or loved ones on this fateful day. Many miracles, as well as tradgedies occurred this day in history. I myself was not dircetly affected by these extremists's damning attacks, but I do ask that all residents of America and beyond please remember and honor these people. I love my country, and God Bless America.

Thank you.

What happened to me? Nothing. I watched something on TV about a plane crashing into something and didn't understand any of it. Err, then again, I was 7.

Oh, then that must've been the Columbia shuttle crash. >_> My bad. (Even that might be wrong. I remember something big happening).

Then it must've been a school morning in the 4th year of elementary school.

Hrmmm. I was really young when it happened, about four or so? Hm.
Anyway, I remember that my parents had to go pick me up from school early. And of course, I had no idea what was going on. I remember it was all really tense and quiet and my sister, who was around 12 then, was totally freaking out. It might be worth mentioning that the third (I think...?) plane that was heading towards DC was really close to where I live before it crashed in that field in Delaware.
I just remember feeling like I was missing something and being scared. ;__;
My friend's dad was in the Pentagon when it got hit. He got out fine, and went back in to find his friend. He found him, helped him out of his office which had the door jammed or something, and got burned all up his arm. He ended up getting it replaced with pigskin. I can't imagine how scared my friend had felt. ;_;

It was also a half-day at our school. We got let out even earlier, though, because of the attacks. Funny thing is, after 9/11, there were no more half-days on Tuesdays. Nothing was announced; half days were simply not on Tuesdays anymore.

I didn't feel anything because it happened in another country. Why should I care if a few thousand people die in another country? It was an event worthy of a short article on page 20 of the newspaper, maybe. I really have no idea about what goes on in other countries. I'm quite an ignorant fuck.

I'm sure if a building closer to home blew up, then I would care about it, and feel patriotic and stuff.

if I understand scythe's point correctly, then i think i'm with him on this one.

I remember feeling angry, and mislead, because the morning cartoons were not on, and all we had was a repeat of the same thing over and over.

I don't remember what happened, because I was five at the time. My mom told me I was home sick that day. And I do remember going into my mom's room one day, when I was sick and little, and she was crying and they had a picture of the Pentagon on TV. I didn't know what 9/11 was until two or three years after it happened

Uhhh, but this isn't just "some other country." You live in "some other country." This happened in America. Americans are inherently worth at least a dozen times what a national of another country is worth, depending on the country.
