Temperature of your house/room/apartment/etc.

Talk about whatever is on your mind, if it doesn't go anywhere else.

SO WHY WOULD THAT MAKE IT HOTTER

I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND
IT DOESN'T
Please allow me to break it all down so I can better illustrate my confusion.

1. You say it's 50 degrees Fahrenheit in summer and 75 degrees in winter.
2. Things are ordinarily hotter in summer than in winter, so this seems odd.
3. My best guess is that you're setting a target temperature on some kind of heating/cooling apparatus.
4. But 50 degrees is really pretty cold and it seems unlikely you would cool your house to this extent.
5. And why would you make it colder in summer than in winter?
6. You go on to refer to wind chill and say that this is increasing the temperature.
7. Wind chill does not raise the apparent temperature, it reduces it.
8. Wind chill is purely perceptual and doesn't affect actual temperatures so this seems to refute my earlier guess.
9. Wind is usually found outside, so I don't quite understand how it relates to the topic at hand.
10. ???????????????????????????

1. Yes
2. Yeah
3. Yes
4. I would /totally/ do that
5. BECAUSE
6. What? No, it was just cold this week. Nothing referring to an increase in temeperature, that might've been my mistake, sorry. D:
7. Yes I know (see 6)
8. see 6
9. see 6

Okay, thanks for your responses. Some followup questions:

1. Seriously, why would you prefer it to be fifteen degrees cooler in summer than in winter?
2. So you must wear a jacket and stuff inside in summer?
3. This seems like a huge waste of electricity.
4. As I understand it, you increased the inside temperature to 82 because of wind chill outside? If that is incorrect. please tell me how to properly interpret the sentence "since it reached -30 windchill here, it was 82".
5. If that is correct, why the fuck?

1. I'm /like/ /that/.
2. Nah, I like cooler temperatures in the Summer.
3. It really isn't, strangely.
4. The temperature in the house was 82 degrees. The temperature outside (with windchill) was -30.

To everyone reading this thread, we've discussed it further on IRC with Sunset and determined that he was mistaken about the actual temperature of his house. We were all very surprised.
