Well, I live in America, so the first sport that comes to mind is American football, but I actually refer to soccer as football too, since I tend to be a purist when it comes to those things.

So true.
I choose the correct football also.

In a perfect world, I would think of football as soccer, but I am conditioned to think of AFL first. Although it depends on the context.

These options confuse me greatly. I consider football to be called just football. Soccer is what Americans call football as I know it. So then where does this leave me between the choices of 'Football - Soccer' and 'Football - American Football'?? O_o

I presume the (soccer) is there to help differentiate between the various options. If he put "Football (Football)" in there, everyone'd choose it.

				What's a soccer?
Football, that's the only name for it. The only time I see American Football players use their feet is, umm, err, never. Oh yeah, they use their feet to run.
No vote, because the option should say: Football.

Ahaha, I love how America makes no sense.
Wedgie/Izzy - American football =

Soccer =

Australian football is this madness which seems to be similar to American football.

Football to everyone else that I know of in the world is soccer to us Americans.
Sorry for the giant pictures, it's not showing the resizing I did on photobucket...
edit: Thanks Mod (=

I live in Canada, so it's only natural for me to go towards American football.
Although I do believe that "football" should only mean soccer, as opposed to Americans being unoriginal when naming sports.

I adjust my lingo depending on my geographical location so as not to confuse people, but at home, the terms I use are:
'soccer': european football
'football': AFL
'gridiron', 'rugby', or some equivalent term: USA football*
*There's probably a difference between rugby and gridiron and/or american football. Just because I use the terms doesn't mean I know anything about them. I'm into AFL :P

I try to refer to american football as 'american football', but it's certainly the first thing that comes to mind when people talk about football.

Football was already taken too, but we came in and
kicked its ass.
