Automatic or manual?

So, this obviously doesn't apply to the portion of the community that doesn't know how to drive yet, but for those that do, I have a simple question: Do you prefer automatic or manual transmissions?
Personally, I like the stick shift myself. If done right it saves gas, and I find it more fun to do. Knowing that I can keep it from downshifting on an upgrade or being able to coast along before a stop is nice. Automatics will just do what they want to do, regardless of what you think is best.

I can drive both, but my car has automatic that allows for a manual override. Most of the time, I like not worrying about it, but there are occasional situations where I know better than my car and prefer manual.

Funny story. Suffice to say, it ends with me only knowing how to drive an Automatic.

Manuals are more fun, but now I'm just used to sitting back in an automatic and doing pretty much nothing. Having the manual override doesn't make too much of a difference. I'd never use it because I'd *need* to, since the entire country enjoys about a two metre variation in altitude, and it's not as entertaining as ordinary manual.

I just started learning to drive a few weeks ago :D
I practised in my dad's automatic car for a while beforehand, so when I began driving in a manual it was all very stressful and tricky in comparison. But so much more fun.

Amount of time you've spent driving meaning it's more of an adventure (young) than a chore (old).

I don't drive, I mean I can, but I chose not to. But I prefer Manual in Mario Cart Wii, so I'll go with that.

Manual without a doubt. I've still not experienced an auto which responds in the way to which I'd like; I prefer feeling more in touch with the car I'm driving, being able to manipulate gear selection and use of the clutch's friction point to assist in braking and acceleration, and also being able to double-clutch to elongate my gearbox's life span.
Also I'm a man.

You know you can't just drift around every corner in real life right? :P
My car is auto, but I can drive either. Manual is a bit more fun though...

I haven't learned to use a manual transmission yet, so I can't really have an opinion on both of them.

I, too, just learned to drive, and it isn't what I would call fun. I'm not even out of the class yet, and I prefer not to drive if I can. I have an option of either automatic or manual (both on Volvos), but I always am stuck with driving in the automatic car. I don't know how to drive with a manual transmission, and I probably wouldn't want to.

Ahh, that makes sense. I thought ampersand was implying that old people don't care about having fun or something. Aaaannnd that could lead to some horrible innuendo so i'll cease talking now.

Automatic is easy and blissful, but Manual makes you feel more in control of the car. So Manual it is.

Automatic. If I wanted to, I could put the transmission in sport mode use + and - to shift manually.

Manual all the way! It makes driving more interesting, it's a little more gas-efficient, and it costs less than an automatic (though it sells for less, too).

sorry maximo ;______;
I've changed my mind. Manual is only fun on long stretches of road. Navigating short roads with lots of corners is a bitch.
