Someone explain me this

After I somehow finnally understood that <3 is not an icecream, but a heart instead (although it's still very icecream to me: <3), now I'm wondering what does :3 mean. Stuff that I can relate with :3 would be double-pierced nose, hog nose person smiley, rabbit ears, fist, etc. but none of those seem logical to me. Enlight me.

I've never seen someone smiling like that...
Okay, this can be locked now.

<3 looks nothing like an ice cream cone. When have you ever seen two scoops of ice cream seated tandem atop a single cone? Never, that's when. An ice cream cone would be like this: <O.

It's not symmetric, but it's physicly possible...

I've done that before, and yes, it's possible.
Anyway, this seems a lot better:
<03
2 scones on top of 1 big scone. Sweet.

In the in crowd, we use <3 for heart, <D for ice cream, and <# for flowers. '<3 <D <#' is a fantastic way to welcome someone.

Try giving that combination to your loved one on an anniversary. Flowers, ice cream, and a heart.

I've always been partial to giving my loved one <#, <D and a <3-on.

BY YOUR POWERS COMBINED I AM CAPTAIN EMOTICON

Anyway can anyone really smile like that? Is there a better word for this expression rather than cat smile?

Without a lip deformity? I wouldn't think so.

No, and the smiley doesn't even look like a smiling person. I mean, come on does :3 remind you on someone smiling?
Edit: coloring makes those look better: <D <# <3

I've always thought of it as a confused walrus who's lost his tusks.

Yesterday I tried explaining to a friend what <3 meant without saying IT'S A HEART, GODDAMIT. She just didn't get it...

well a prime number is a number which that can be divised by itself and one and one is one so its divisable by one and one so i think its a prime number

On a more relevant note...

I know you really like it, but I've never understood what this is. My best guess is a dancing Arabic man whose turban has a telephone pole coming out the top.

Scroll down to the chart, the explanation is there. Case closed, everybody go home, get a sandwich, whatever. Party's over.

Am I the only person who saw "<3" as a penis for a good period of time?

Because Suki didn't resolve this in the second post or anything. :P

Interestingly though, that wiki page has :3 under love. O_o
