I used to have what I call my "Happy Place," and I'm no longer sure that place exists anymore. I haven't been able to meditate and center myself for a long, long time now. As a result, I don't get much sleep, and lately, I'm very unnerved and restless.

My bridge is my mind.
This can sound funny, but if I'm going to cry, I won't. I think better things at the moment, and after it, I don't want to cry anymore.
Pain. I take my pain deep inside, never showing somebody actually it hurts, thinking like nothing happened.

Yeah, my bridge is on the side of a mountain about 2 hours from where I live. It's not even the mountain itself, it's more the walk, I release as I hike up it, then I come out into the clearing, and everything seems alright then. Then I walk home.

If I feel sad I'll usually go to the lake which is 5mins walk from my house, just to clear my head. If I feel like I want to cry, I do. There is nothing worse than bottling up your emotions. Sometimes when I get /really/ depressed, crying can have the same effect as laughing, that is, it makes me feel human.Tunco123 wrote:if I'm going to cry, I won't. So yeah... I don't have a "happy place" as such, just somewhere quiet where I can think things through, which is usually what I need.

"Happy Place" sounds soooooo McDonalds.
Anyway, I don't have such Happy Place. Instead, I have this thing called "Happy musical moment with any instrument that comes to my hand", which is usual my guitar. It's really awesome and I'm so happy I learned how to play guitar this year. Singing the problems is one way of getting it out. Flute (or recorder) is good too and even Wiimusic is good.
Another "Happy something" is when I'm going to sleep and take my voice recorder (my mp3) and let it all out, as I were talking to myself, but in the future. Kinda weird, but it works.

I exercise. No mind games for me.
A random question that's slightly related (okay, not really):
Do you consider it offensive or meaningful if a person does not outwardly show emotion at a funeral, for example by crying?

Feeling sad or depressed? Feel like hurling yourself off a building?Donfuy wrote:"Happy Place" sounds soooooo McDonalds.
Then buy our Happy Meals! Comes with a free toy, which is guaranteed to put a smile on your face!

As for the bridge, I normally walk the dog every night. Seeing as I live in a small village, I'm often alone when walking the dog, which allows me to reflect upon things.

My bridge, honestly, is a game entitled Knights of the Old Republic 2. Everything in that game seems to be in line with my perfect ideals. I don't really let out emotions very much, but I do engage in my deepest reflections, generally, when inside the game. It is very relaxing, in a sense.

Must say, that's a very bad sign for our dearly beloved forum.Ampersand wrote:I used to have what I call my "Happy Place," and I'm no longer sure that place exists anymore. My "bridge" is my bike. Good topic.
