I'm making this thread mostly to bring attention to the fact that, if you're using a browser that supports it, YouTube has implemented HTML5 for its videos (under basic conditions). This is the first major site to start using one of the new HTML5 features that I'm familiar with. Does anyone know of any other sites besides the experimental chrome javascript gallery thing?

Youtube's HTML5 videos aren't really too usable as a replacement for Flash at present, but I understand that they cut down immensely on CPU usage, so it'll be interesting to see where it goes. I also noticed that as soon as you load a Youtube video in HTML5, the entire loading bar fills up completely, as if the video was downloaded in a few seconds. I'm assuming that's just a weird bug and not the amazingness of HTML5?

I dunno. I can only assume that videos buffer differently when using HTML5.

I assume the compression is superior in h.264.Spawn of Yanni wrote:Youtube's HTML5 videos aren't really too usable as a replacement for Flash at present, but I understand that they cut down immensely on CPU usage, so it'll be interesting to see where it goes. As soon as we wish to be happier, we are no longer happy.

I think my favorite feature is where the video stops loading if you move the tracker.
No, wait, I'm mistaken. Videos just stop loading regardless.

I have also not had this issue while using Google Chrome on Windows 7.

Mac Chrome. Why would there be a significant difference?SlappyMcGee wrote:I don't have this issue and I am using the same browser. Are you using Chrome or macChrome?ǝʎn1ɔuı wrote:Youtube's own touted Google Chrome.SlappyMcGee wrote:Which of the supported browsers are you using?

Well, if you're having Chrome problems,
I feel bad for you,son,
my browser runs smoothly,
but I am running on a superior operating system, Windows 7, and I imagine the infrastructure for the browser is entirely different.
HIT ME.

No, it's probably because I'm using THE FASTEST BROWSER IN THE WORLD (Chrome Mac dev channel) and its connection handling is a little buggy.SlappyMcGee wrote:Well, if you're having Chrome problems,
