Links and Windows

I'm quite frustrated with link system on the new forums. When I go into a link, this window changes. In the old forums, when you clicked on a link, a new window appeared. Is this part of the changing process, or will this be a permanent thing?

I prefer it when websites don't try to override the default behaviour of the browser—you should be able to control where the link opens yourself.

I can agree with both of these.

Anything on phpBB is changeable. If enough people don't like something, we can change it.

That would be amazing. Just put it near the back of the list, I can live with it for a little. Just quite annoying when I click on an image or siggy link, and then I'm like "Cool" *exits* *stares at computer and slams fist into head*.

You should upgrade to a browser with tabbing capabilities.

I think you can right click the link and select 'open in new window' in every browser, right? :/

You could always use IE7. It's got a tab function, so like I do, just right click and select open in new tab, so you can visit it later.

I actually prefer it this way. But considering I usually open everything as tabs anyway, it doesn't really affect how I browse anyway.

I actually thought you were talking about links to threads would open in new windows at first, and was going to call you crazy, then I realized you were talking about links to outside the forum, in which case, I totally agree with getting that changed.

I have a browser with tab capabilities. I guess I'm just a little lazy. I won't fuss about this anymore, but I just thought maybe some people felt the same way.

Scroll-click, man... the finger moves less than half an inch...

I agree with getting it changed, although right clicking or scroll clicking isn't that bad, it'll just be a hassle for some.
But pressing backspace, or the Back button isn't too bad, unless that link was a site where you clicked a lot of things, and pressing back is just a pain.

Yeah agreed with Keron, press your Mouse Wheel down and BAM new tab opens, but it doesn't take over your page. Click the tab when you want to view the page.

So is it time for this to be locked? I see no further use in it, seeing as I am too lazy to move half an inch ;).
