Taking in all possible factors into account, where would you most like to live? I currently live in Florida and hate it; it's too hot, I don't tan and I like the rain that we never get here, etc. My favorite place to live would be Seattle, though Canada and Colorado would be nice too (and I've visited all of those, so I'm not just naming locations based off stuff I've read :p).

I love So Cal weather, although a little more rain would be really nice. But y'know, I think I'm fine where I am, but some more trees would be nice. My college next year is a little closer to the mountains, and right next to the beach, so it's all good.

Economically, I'm inclined to say that I want to get out of the US as fast as possible, off-shore all of my money, etc., but that's at direct odds with my interest to work for the US Department of Defense.
Furthermore, since my current ideal job (which is quite liable to change) is for the NSA, I'd pretty much have to learn to be happy in Fort Meade. I don't know much about it, but I'm not terribly concerned because it has a political climate I'm used to.
Otherwise, it's quite likely that I'll end up in Silicon Valley, particularly because I live about 90 minutes away as it is and go to school even closer.

Aside from those issues, two states in the US interest me in particular:
Alaska, because I love the cold and will probably turn into more and more of a gun nut as I get older.
Vermont, because I'm very much a fan of its political climate and because it's one of the safest states in the US.

If money and culture shock aren't problems, I'm interested in living somewhere in Canada and somewhere in England, though I'm clueless enough about the two that I couldn't name any particular region.

If language wasn't an issue, Germany and Japan are easy first picks, although people have called me crazy for entertaining the thought of intentionally living in Siberian Russia (I wasn't kidding when I said I love cold). I think I'd be right at home in Germany, because much of what I've read about German culture seems much more sensible to me than what I endure in the US, although I'd have issues with what I understand to be a greater acceptance of alternative medicine. But I probably wouldn't last long in Japan because I'm Western barbarian scum; I'd like it a whole lot more if I looked like I could be Japanese.

I'm quite happy in Austin. I would like to live in Europe or Australia (NZ even) for a while, but I'd probably find my way back to Texas for all my complaining.

Heh. I feel the same way about Texas. The weather is never perfect, I live in tornado alley, and we probably one of the highest ratios of crazy hicks per normal person of any state but I might just never live elsewhere.

I'm always sort of skeptical when someone says that they like the cold. Having lived in a place where it got down to minus 40 degrees Celsius several times a year, I can't really understand why you would want to live in that kind of temperature. Understand that when it's that cold outside you can't really do anything! You can't go outside for any extended period of time, you can't turn off your car without plugging it into an electrical outlet. There's no contest with Mother Nature at those climes, she's just... too fucking cold!

Temperature-wise for me, anywhere between Southern Ontario and Colorado is great. Politically, where there's a democracy, I'm cool. Socially, I prefer the cultural mash-up of larger cities. I will likely stick to the Northern Hemisphere for my entire life but wouldn't be averse to living in South Africa, Australia or New Zealand.

I really want to move to America for a couple of years, honestly, but then I'll be right back here in Canberra. Sure, it's well quiet, but I love the serenity. Even if the weather is funky as all hell.

I spent my earliest years in / frequently visited Russia, so believe you me, I am familiar with the inconveniences imposed by extreme cold. But I've always looked forward to seeing and being in the snow, I find myself leaving the house more just to take walks (something I practically never do in warmer weather), and love the feeling of being in a warm room with a view of the blistering cold outside. I fucking love the cold.

While I presently live in a city with a Mediterranean climate, which is pretty damn nice, I could go for a cooler change. With snow! I'd like to have some snow. And the bright lights of a big city. And I'd like to become multilingual, which is good, because I'm not terribly interested in the rest of the Anglophone world.

Switzerland appeals to me a great deal. Expensive, though, but I don't see myself wanting to live anywhere cheap. Otherwise, any big city in non-Eastern Europe would be nice. Or Hong Kong, which is the only place in Asia I could ever see myself, though I'm not a great fan of the language. Japan is too culturally distant to entertain thoughts of residence.

All that said, it's hard to beat Australia, so we'll see how it all works out.

I actually like my location in terms of climate, Wisconsin has the perfect combo of warm summers and snowy winters.

I'm happy with the place I live, but it would be better if I lived in New Zealand or somewhere at the east coast of Canada. Iceland is another option, all I want is to live somewhere peaceful and close to nature.

City life is Bleh :P for me. Better living at country side.

I'm not a fan of big cities, and I'm not a fan of cold (actually that is a huge understatement, fuck cold, I'll take 100 F). So within the US that leaves me with southern states away from the coast (where big cities are). I think I'll keep my Kansas (actually I'd prefer a little bit farther south, it still gets to around 0 F in the winter here).

Outside of the US? Probably Germany, because I hear it looks like Kansas.

I love the countryside, and the woods. Living in England does provide you with some amazing collections of both of these, but it's too damned rainy. It's not something that's really mentioned outside of the country, but when you live here you definately notice the increase in wet conditions. And besides that, we're so damn overpopulated. It's so frustrating. You go on google maps, to take a better look at the country, and find that everywhere is covered in fucking towns and cities. What countryside we have is sparse and surrounded on all sides by houses. I hate that too much for words.

So some small-town america, in the middle of nowhere, but surrounded by countryside and forest. That's where i'd like to live. I went through a place like that when i went down to california last summer, though I was in Yosemite at the time.

Japan is also a place i'd seriously consider living. I'd learn the language and stuff, though it would be fairly time-consuming, but the culture is some amazing in japan that I just want to crawl into bed with it. Or at least most of it.

Alright, I know there's a contradiction there, but Japan has such an awesome culture I wouldn't mind living in a city there.

I pretty much love Portugal so I'd have some houses around here.

Where I live is awesome, so I'd have one house here.
My beach house is awesome too, because it's calm and cozy, even if it's an apartment, so I'd love to live there too.
One house in Alentejo. It's calm and hot, there are cool roads around and the whole place just looks so awesome.
In contrast, I'd like another in northern portugal, preferably around the Gerês Mountain.

From the countries I have visited so far (Spain and France), the only place I'd like to live in is somewhere near Millau, France. It's beautiful there.

which is one of the reasons I'm moving to a suburb of Chicago next fall.

Given the extremely cold winters there, wouldn't it be ideal to move there in the spring or something to have the longest time possible before the winter? Of course, this is not factoring circumstances of, you know, your life :p

I'm pretty sure I'm capable of getting tired of just about anywhere that I live within a year or so. Currently I just plan to move around a lot.

That said, probably Vancouver, or somewhere on the relevant island.

Also Japan has a mediocre, though unique, culture. The whole damn country is depressed, dull, and addicted to cigarettes. Look who's in sixth place:

I'm the same way really. At least for a while I'd love to be able to just travel. That being said, places I think I'd like to live (barring financial constraints) would be Southern California or Melbourne. Climate wise and culturally I think they're both good. There are lots of other places that I'd love to visit, but I really couldn't stand living somewhere cold.
