Relative of mine whose in her mid-30s stayed with us for a month last summer. She flew from Asia to the US and got me a pair of *socks.*

What are the worst presents you received?

My step-grandparents have regularly given me and my brother incredibly simplistic boardgames.
We have a bet each year as to what the recommended age on the box will be. It has never been above 11.

And when I get home, I'll try to remember to take a photo of a shirt they gave me for my birthday. It will make your eyes vomit.

I have gotton those cute kid PC games from my grandma a few times. Ages 5 to 12.

Bread.

My neighbour got me a kids party compilation CD once. S-Club 7 and the like. Ugh.

Socks for my birthday. Goddammit.

A set of hand towels from my neighbor.

There've been a couple birthdays where I didn't get anything for my birthday because all my relatives had saved up to put money in my college fund or something.

I usually request small things so that I don't get anything ridiculous or expensive. Or, indeed, nothing at all.

Worse gift I've ever gotten? Hard to say. I got The Great Escape for the PC once, but other than that... Hmm.

I like this music - I have S Club 7 on my ipod, and several other childrens' songs. The genre as a whole, like almost any other genre, has some pretty good songs. Sometimes it's just fun to listen to childrens' music.

Asian people live next door to us, and once a long time ago, they gave me a set of superman dvd's to watch (I never watch television or movies). That was not very fun. Worse yet was the fact that my parents, being Protestant Five-Point Calvinist Christians, who adhere to the Regulatory Principle of Worship (all the people at the church I am forced to go to every sunday wear suits and ties), disapproved of the image of a man who could withstand bullets and all sorts of dangers etc. on his own power, and thus disallowed me from watching the thing. That whole christmas sucked.

And how can you like that kind of music, but not genuinely good music I introduce you to? You say that music isn't about sounding good (???) and then admit to liking S-Club 7? I just can't figure you out.

I think 16th birthday? family friends got me deodorant and like other cleaning products, including a bonus cap that had the brand on it (it came in a package all together [with the cap], that just screams classy). And they weren't doing it as a joke either. I mean. They had no idea what to get me, so somehow they thought getting something that implied I was unclean and stank was a good idea.

You all remind me of that Friends episode where they're stranded at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, forcing Chandler and Joey to do their Christmas shopping at the rest stop.
The only present I can remember them giving specifically was windshield wiper blades.
