And I agree with him in that Pinkerton was the last truly great Weezer album. I love the first two, hands down two of the coolest albums of all time.
Green is good, but the rest pain me.

His music makes me happy, and many others.

Didn't say that.=w= wrote:Man, I wish all of those bands that make music I like release those albums again. Because that, as a fan, is what I want.

Blue to Pinkerton = drastic. Drastic would be good, if I thought it were actually good.
Did I quote you directly?MAXXXON wrote:I wasn't raging...?a happy song wrote:I don't think he was serious, not entirely anyway. No need to rage.
It was more of a pre-emptive justincase.

You could say the same about religion.=w= wrote:Making music makes Rivers Cuomo happy.

The problem is that Weezer fans are only hurting themselves, and often enough the family and friends around them.

Could you put together your favourite tracks from everything post Green, say, 8-10, and build me an album of what you consider the best to be?
I'd love to give some of this new material another shot, it might be a nice way to do it.

Blue to Pinkerton = drastic. Drastic would be good, if I thought it were actually good.
There are people, heathens, who love the Blue album but hate Pinkerton.
These people recognize how different the music was; loud, MORE cryptic, sad, and were driven away by that sound. These people frequently talk about how Weezer should go back to the days of Blue and Green. (and sometimes Red, but I think that's just for continuity's sake.)
There are others who believe that Weezer peaked with Make Believe, and thus, love Make Believe and the bonus tracks on all of the albums since. (Legit.)
I love Blue, Pink, Green, Mal, Make Believe, Half of Red, and Hurley. I don't like Raditude because the lyrics are all fun party rock and the guitars are sometimes overshadowed by synths. But when the guitars do get loud, I like it quite a bit. There are a few good tunes there.
But I recognize that each album is a very different exploration in the gigantic umbrella of power pop. Which is why I continue to not understand you people; you people who bitch about how he made two perfect albums and then fell down a downward spiral. There is absolutely no downward spiral. The albums do not go from one style to the current in a smooth progression. Green, for instance, was at least partly about minimizing their guitar sound, and then Mal was about Maximising it. Red was about internal collaboration; Raditude was also about collaboration, but with members outside the band.
It's just so frustrating to hear all of you guys say "MAN I WISH HE WOULD STOP MAKING MUSIC" or "WHY DOESN'T HE MAKE GOOD MUSIC?" His music is great, imo, and you people continue to act like assholes as if you have some moral superiority to those of us who like it, or because you happen to perceive this to be the majority of people's opinion (but look at the record sales on Make Believe, and shudder, bitches!). And if you really need to hear Pinkerton again, Pinkerton is coming out again on November 2nd.
And most of you haven't listened to the first Rentals album, which is at least as good as Blue.
And yes, atob, as soon as I get back to my apartment tonight.

And this is entirely preference, I've simply not heard anything I from them since the first two records that I adore. Which I'm sad about, because I /adore/ the first two.
Again, I have no desire to hear Pinkerton again. I just want to hear something I can fall in love with in the same way.
Thanks Slappy, I'm look forward to it.

I've never heard them, but I might as well give them a shot. If you could pick one album that I should listen to, what would it be?

Blue then Pinkerton, imo.MAXXXON wrote:Well, since Slappy seems to be the most knowledgeable of Weezer stuff...

And not just because I think they're the best, they just contrast so well.

I found it really dark and not particularly fun, which are the traits I love now.

Huh, I liked it when I first heard it. The material is darker, but "The Good Life" and "El Scorcho" are super fun songs.=w= wrote:toasters wrote:Really, how come?=w= wrote:Don't do Pinkerton first. It took me years to like Pinkerton.

EDIT: I am listening to Sweater Song right now and I'm positive I've heard this on the radio before.
EDIT2: Done. I gotta say, despite the fact that I normally hate these kind of upbeat rock bands, this was surprisingly enjoyable.
Like:
My Name Is Jonas
Buddy Holly
The Sweater Song
Say It Ain't So
Only In Dreams; this song made me sad though :(
Dislike:
No One Else
Surf Wax America
Neutral:
Everything else
Overall a very solid album IMO.
