This is a completely legitimate and honest question. Vote and/or post at your own discretion, nobody is going to force you to disclose anything if you feel uncomfortable or whatever. This poll has been made out my own curiosity of the percentage of people in this community that are circumcised or not. I expect maestro's response to entail a number of polls considering tropical fruits and Indo-Chinese ethnoarcheology that are characteristic of his manner, sometimes.

I'm just going to assume that there are no transvestites, transgendered, cross-dressers, hermaphrodites, and other such people in this community who define gender differently than the poll's implied dichotomous definition of "male" and "female" and would therefore make the voting process all the more confusing.

I think I know who you're referring to. I have no problem with them or their psychosociosexual attitudes and whatnot, I'm merely stating that the poll is divided into "male" and "female" for the sake of economy. Yes, that's a poor excuse for alienating people, but this is more about circumcision and not intended about identity.

I'm going to preemptively agree with whatever Suki has to say on the matter.

My "no" entry in this poll is only marginally of interest compared to the nature of the discussions I anticipate making their way into this thread in the near future.

What is the point in circumcision anyway? I know it's a religeous thing and whatnot but there must be some kind of purpose to it, surely?

Yeah. Frankly though, I didn't have much of a say in the matter, since it was for my religion, and I was an infant.

think of it this way: your parents were nice enough to get it done when the world was a meaningless spiral of colors and senses instead of waiting until when you were old enough to be able to remember the horrible, horrible, pain.

I guarantee that if it was custom to circumcise at 18 instead of shortly after birth, it wouldn't be done very often anymore.

I can't imagine a circumcision debate ever really coming to a meaningful conclusion, but in my opinion the end-all argument against circumcision is one you'd never bring up in an academic debate:
People with foreskins have the option to pinch the end closed when they come, which offers considerable convenience in terms of cleanup and disposal. There's simply no jacking off into a sock or any realistic threat of a sticky keyboard. I can't imagine how much it must suck to live without this capability.

Even when I was religious, I found this to be pretty ridiculous. Something of this nature should be up to the individual affected and nobody else.

This poll implies female circumcision is analogous to male circumcision, which angers the feminist inside me.

Every time I think about a knife and my children's genitalia, I get all wet in the pants. Seriously.
