I've just realised that about a quarter of all of the members on these forums haven't posted once. Why is this?

Not that this answers your question, but didn't you notice it on the old forums?

Oh, also, a lot of them are members of the old forum who don't really seem to have gotten back into the community after the switch.

Well, I never really looked on the old forums :/

Could it be said that some of them were just directed here by other members and they never bothered to settle in?

There will always be people here who register here and never post. On the old forums, there were thousands of members with zero activity. It's not that uncommon, really.

Another remarkable fact: This thread has been posted on consecutively every two posts by a different admin each time. o_O

Well regardless if posting activity, it's still showing that people show interest in the game by doing it at all in the first place. Which is definitely good.

Yeah I think that may have been me. I worked how how many members had 0 posts, 1 post, 2 posts etc. It turned out that a crazy big amount (cant remember the figures, maybe 3/4's or something) had less that 5 or so posts.

EDIT: Yeah, I found that on the old forum, about 4000 of the 6000 members had less than 2 posts. :/

When I think of inactive members, I think dead blood cells. They keep the body fresh momentarily until their time is called, which is usually a day to 3 weeks time. After that, they just float in the blood cells until they decompose as wastes and are pruned out of the body. There's a consistent flow of them, too, which ensures that the body has a good blood flow.

It's healthy!

They are also good for bragging about forum size on other forums, not that it's the sort of thing that one would brag about. Someone could say, "Hey! We've got five hundred members!", but it turns out that not many post in any short time frame (Look who's talking).

There used to be this girl on the old forums, kayix, posted heaps, but hasn't done anything here.

Also, I noticed that there was an inactive acount with the name 'Nexx'. Is that Avarian but he made a new acount just after he'd joined here? Just thought that was odd.

Posting isn't always necessary. There are myriad members who prefer to lurk and simply read threads. They just don't feel the compulsive need to post copiously.

Evil_Sire was banned and his post count reduced to zero. Where have you been? If you can name every active member like you claim but weren't even aware that Evil_Sire had been banned, maybe you don't have this community quite as under wraps as you'd think.

I was never very active on the old forum - I think I had maybe 20 posts. When we switched over to the new forums I started posting a lot more. Not really sure why.
