I absolutely believe webcomics deserve their own section.

I volunteer myself as King of this new section.

Second?

CHANGED VOTE

That's a darn good argument you've got there. I'd be happy to have them under my command, specially seeing as I have one - which, on that note, I need to update.

Still, amazing argument, so I'd unofficially change my vote and put them there.

Haha, you make it sound like we've secretly decided on a correct place and we'll take administrative actions if you guess incorrectly.
Is that not the case?
southpaw wrote:Images rarely convey a long-term story. Community Projects are something that probably requires more than just 1 or 2 people to complete the project from start to finish.

I vote Multimedia (other), of which the forum clearly states:

Multimedia
Share and discuss music, videos, and other creative pursuits.

It seems to me that Webcomics are both (A) something you share and discuss, and (B) a creative pursuit. If this is how the Multimedia forum is going to be defined and we can agree that Webcomics are more than images, but not community projects, we can probably agree that they are a creative pursuit of the author of which they would like people to share and discuss their ideas and opinions of it.
Well said. This actually makes more sense than any of the other arguments. Although, I would not be horribly opposed to Slappy's idea. Even if he ultimately became moderator of it. We all know we don't want SlappyMcGee to be a mod. But a webcomic forum at the bottom of that list would not be terrible.

But they're more than just an image! Read Pawz's argument... that's what convinced me.

IMO, An image and a comic don't fall into the same boat. Images make up comics, and together they do things that an image itself can't, not to mention their authors intend for them to get read, not looked at. In the case of no separate forum, I vote to stick them in multimedia (though I really would prefer to have a seperate forum...). In my mind, comics and just plain "images" fall as far apart as poetry and prose; the similarities end at the file type.

But hey, I have a comic so my views may not end up entirely unbiased...

As the creator of the great Comic Theory, one may say that a comic is both a comic and an image, seeing as a comic can be an image but not vice-versa, so the confusing between deciphering where the webcomic would go is because comics vary by size, meaning that some are actual community projects, while others qualify as just a regular doodle thing to show to people. The only compromise I can think of is for it to be in Images, but the webcomics that seem to be the most impactful and more community-involved should be moved to Community projects, but the only flaw between this is that organizational my occur within a certain period of time.

Anyone who wants to push on to this idea is much obliged.

I'd say images, but I think there should still be an extra webcomic forum (image subforum?).

Apparently there are going to be no subforums.

I'm thinking they should go under images. If they were in there, all types of comics would be encompassed.

We try not to lock things in this forum because we trust the community to be intelligent and not reply to topics that have already served their course. I hope we're not overestimating your intelligence.
