I actually like the idea of calling the domain mountai. It sounds like metanet, while most of our discussion has nothing to do with it, and mountai just plain sounds cool. metan.et also works for me; I thought up of just www.n.net, but that might not work out well.

maybe... http://ninetyseconds.meta.net/ ???

Sounds sorta good, as I'm adamant in my approval of ninetyseconds. It's catchy, sorta related to Metanet, or a metanet product, and it gives the people who gets the reference a moment of an awesome feeling, like "Holy shit I get it! =D" (me)

That would still be on the meta.net domain though.

I have a few ideas, one is silly, the other is less so:

http://methane.net

http://metafun.com

Other people's ideas I like:
http://www.metacenter.com . http://metanetgaming.com/ is good and to the point.

I feel http://ninetyseconds.comorg is too specific and would not be easy for new people to find.

I support using http://www.mountai.net/ because A) most people know it already and B) it's easy to remember.

Who's currently paying for it?

I may be entirely wrong here, but easterviking was around before we lost therealn, after which the admins saw it convenient to use easterviking as a backup.

Have any of you ever been to http://www.easterviking.com/ ? I'm starting to question (along with, undoubtedly some of the others here) if you guys understand the concept of a subdomain.

Code: Select all

Suggested domain: Requires ownership of:

http://ninetyseconds.meta.net/ meta.net
http://meta.forum.com/ forum.com
http://forum.meta.com/ meta.com
http://n.metanet.com/ metanet.com
http://n.forum.com/ forum.com
And incase you haven't noticed, all of them (in the second column) have been taken, therefore, we can't use any of the domains in the first column.

Edit: acctually, http://metanet.com/ never loads for me. Anyone want to check it out?

Are you sure it works like that? Or does it work in the same way as .uk? (i.e. domain.com.et , domain.org.et) I don't really know about this sort of thing, this is just what I'm seeing.
No, it doesn't work that way.
Unfortunately, .et only allows for third-level registrations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.et

I like the idea of http://havenop.ie/ or even http://oops.pow-surpri.se/, but fancy top-level domains cost extra. have-no-pie.org works just as well, or without hyphens.

I think that's what people have been suggesting on this page but it kinda goes against that idea that we should have something that identifies ourselves as the metanet community.

I did. The domain is availble, but I lost my source of where I found it. :P
So, if we could get that domain, then http://www.forum.metanet.com is a legit subdomain, if we owned metanet.com, then that would make it great, because then metanet.com isn't just N um... what's that word..... relative.

metan.com re-directs to http://metan.com/AnaSayfa.asp? . Please check if the domain you're suggesting is actually available before posting it.
