The first Dronies competition wasn't all that much of a popularity contest from what I remember.
New authors stand little chance of getting a Dronie, regardless of how good their maps are.

Yes, the newbie who won a dronie by making 4 Survival maps in the time before the nominations. A catagory where there aren't too many maps made.
