I don't quite understand this point. I know where you're coming from in that Metanet is doing new things, but I still don't understand why a reference to the original game is frowned upon.

Because .org is ugly, and therealn is not a great domain name.
metachasm.com
metagasm is clearly the more obvious choice!

My thinking is that this domain is less for us to go, "Oh, man, we love the fuck out of the N game." and more so that new users will find it and easily be able to associate that name with the games that we principally encompass. If we have a domain that is N-specific, I could see Robotology coming out and spawning an entirely separate community, which would be awful.

That is a fair point (although I imagine M&R would link to our domain in the game itself, but your point still stands I suppose). I'd argue that ninetyseconds is obscure enough, though, to not create a too N-centric situation or anything but I feel eh about the org.

Robotology's site has the Latin phrase "Mater artium necessitas." trans. "Necessity is the mother of invention."

The phrase changes on every reload, and I think the idea is that we don't want to be specific to any single game.

Just because the phrase appeared on Robotology's page doesn't mean, at least to me, that its specific to Robotology. I read it as a melding of "metanet inventions".

"The mother of invention is necessity," technically. Sorry.

I totally agree with Slappy here. Let's just get something that has "metanet" in its name, or at least "meta", what's the problem?

Once again, my vote's for http://www.pompousbastards.com .

Also, while Metanet is appropriate, just slapping "Meta" on a domain doesn't do enough. What about http://www.metaporn.com ?

This is awkward for both podcasts. I may need to contact Apple and see if they can change the links for them.

Real pity that we lost TheRealN, because I liked that name. If someone else cared to pay hosting I'd happily allow use of my site... otherwise probably not.

Other domains... I second meta.net - that would be cool. Otherwise I don't really have any ideas.

P'raps forum.metanet.co.ck ?

Though n.forum.com could work.

We could go with, like, organized names, you know? Like, metanet.forum.com for the forum, or something. I dunno.

Unfortunately, .co.ck domains are rather expensive if you don't live in the Cook Islands.

well, until we can figure this out, how about setting up a forum at lefora.com so we can debate this. Otherwise, this'll all be gone when easterviking goes out.
