ok, so i just had an idea. u know all the people out there in nmaps who r new? they only have 1 or 6 maps? maybe a bunch of z/1/4 snapping with tons of extra pbjects?
well, one person could go on nmaps per one new player, and helpfully criticize and make their maps better. i would create a bar for the siggie of those who join, but i need new user volunteers. also, we need helpers. plz help me, im just trying to make nmaps a better place with better mapmakers.\
THIS IS NOW LED BY RHEKATOU. PLEASE PM HIM, NOT ME.
Anyone applying to mentor should read THIS first.
People I wanna thank:
Rikaninja
Avarin
also: if you join, please tell me the user you are mentoring (via pm)
If you were doing it before - you have just been WIPED.
Who you are mentoring is anonymous. Just pm me.
EDIT: Sorry, but I can't go through the entire thread. IE8 doesn't let me keep typing and scrolling in the text boxes.

I know I need to update this page, but it is hard on IE8 because the window keeps moving up whenever I type.
The userbar is not available anymore, unless upon rwquest. So far Avarin, Riikaninja, and Me are the only people to have completed the three weeks. HELP Us!

I sometimes do this on my own. I helped out a user by the name of Regal_Legend for a while, but he left after 18 maps. Right now I'm keeping my eye on matonen, who's only got 2 maps.
I do it because I believe the relationship provides something for both the older member and the newer member.
Anyway, if you want to put me down on the record, you can put me down with matonen for now. I'm not sure if he's going to be making any more maps for a while, but if he doesn't, I'll look for someone else.

M-M-M-Me? Lil' old me? Aw, shucks, I'd be glad to. Try not to triple post, just for future reference, but I'll overlook the triple-posting for the compliment. =D

I do this anyway, but I'm intrigued. I wonder how much you could teach someone about mapping if you focused entirely on them...
If you can organize this well you can sign me up.

i agree with avarin, and that is why i made this thread

to kablizzy/riobe/anyone who cares
i meant well known.
also: this'd just be nice to get started, and im still looking for someone to help. some new peeps: possibly leosroselli, imakeesylvls, flynfish, etc
i just noticed george copied kablizzy's mmmme? lil old me? note
also: sorry if i triple post, i dont do it for the rank like some people. i just have something to say or an idea and i just add a new post

Mentoring!
I think this is an awesome idea, blackbelmoral, but I think you may have difficulty organizing it well. Without taking over your project, would you mind if I made a suggestion? The way that I envision this would allow people to use their own initiative to go out and find and select a new mapmaker that they think shows promise/can be helped. They would then post the username of the mapmaker in this thread along with the gist of the advice that they've given and you, blackbelmoral, would put their name along with the name of their noob in the first post of this thread. Add some nice formatting to it and you've got yourself a nice little thing goin' on.

I'm not in the basic userlevels because n_1.4vpc was made in 05' (?)...so yeah. I also don't think any or my levels deserve to be in the game's original userlevels.blackbelmoral wrote:really?Riobe wrote:I joined in April of this year, compared to Kablizzy joining in 04'. The number of maps...I used to spam, back when there was a 2 map queue, and I spent a lot of time mapping over summer, and over the weekends nowadays.
And no, I don't have anyone to put on it...

Yeah, I don't think we should be picking, I think it should be both ways. Sign up to mentor, sign up to be mentored. Without willing participants both ways, the project will not work. We need a way to recruit people wanting to be mentored, and then we need to match the veterans up with them systematically.

ok, maybe not advertise.
but if you just give advice your helping, and that's what we're doing.
and please dont ask me to pick someone out. find someone you think is interesting and ask them

so very in!
I'll post who I'm mentoring when I find somebody.
Also, I'm thinking a notice on the front page of NUMA advertisin this would get new members needing mentoring involved as well. *hints to ATOB*

I think the title and the fact that you have been chosen kind of hurts the new mapmaker's ego :/
