OK, so here's the idea:
Anyone who wanted to would record a small something, somewhere between 15 and 45 seconds long, and email it to me (preferably as an mp3, but wav, ogg, vrf or wma would all be good too). These recordings would then be made into a special Metanet Podcast. I'll cut recordings off after 1 minute, so please try and keep your recording to around 45 seconds.
Simply because setting a deadline helps people do something, all recordings must be in by the first of February this year (2009). I will then edit them all into a podcast - in the order that I got them, so being faster is an advantage - and release that in the first week of February.
As to what to put into the recordings, you must introduce yourself at the beginning, but other than that you can say whatever you want as long as it complies with the forum rules. Swearing etc is allowed, but no hate speech, or sound-spamming. If you want to put in music you are welcome, but please make it part of the recording because I will not edit in music for you.
If you want to put in what you like and stuff, sure, go for it. An example would be:
"Hey, I'm Lenny, and I try to manage these podcasts, as well as other forum things. I've got my own site, comic and podcast, which you might want to check out - if you do just head on over to leonardweiss.com. I'm also the mod of the Multimedia forum, so if you're into music or videos please drop in and post something! Anyway, that's it from me; I hope you enjoy the first Have Your Say podcast!"
And to answer a final possible question of why am I doing this? Well, I figured it'd be pretty cool, but also it means all of those people who sit there going "I wish I could have been in that podcast..." can be in one. Plus, it's another great way for people in the community to get to know each other a small bit more.
So, once you've got a recording please email it to me. My Gmail account would be best, so just send your recording to [email protected] and I'll let you know once I've received it.
Thanks, and I hope to get some recordings soon!
Lenny

Recorded and email'd to [email protected].
Let's have 'em all compiled into the one broadcast before they're made public individually.

I still have my Mixcraft, so if anyone wants to put in music in theirs edited in, you could PM me to do so. I'm going to do one, and God help me if I burst into song by that moment.

My laptop's got a built-in mic, so I'll definitely try to record something for you. What to say... Hmm.
I'm sure I'll think of something.

as long as you can take mp4 files I'm totally doing this.

Other Project
Soon as in later. Probably post-December. However, aperture and I are in contact, so rest assured we are at least thinking about it.

I'm still figuring out how to use my laptop's built-in cam and microphone. It's inoperable at the moment. Perhaps someone would enlighten me on how to set it up?

Also, if you just want to do audio I recommend Audacity.

Sure. It will also go into the Metanet Podcast topic.everythingfromatoz wrote:Wait, can you post the full podcast as an mp3 here when it's done?
@Suki: Like... 5. I haven't actually bugged any of the mods to do it yet because I know they will in good time.

Hate bumping topics, but it would be really great to get more responses.
I'm going away for a week, and coming back on the first, which is when all recordings are due. So, as an incentive to record yourself and send it in, I'm now accepting Audacity project files (as a .zip) and Vent recording files (which are .vrf).
To record yourself in Vent, go to the main screen and right click on the white part of the window. Then, under view, you will find "Record/playblack". Clicking on that will open up a recording area, where could can record yourself talking for a minute (though you might want to jump into a different channel for that time).
Alternatively, if you absolutely can't record yourself, but would like to be a part of Have Your Say, you can email me with a short paragraph on what you would like to say and I'll happily record it for you (the downside being it will be in my voice, of course).
To admins and mods, please please please record one if you can. As much as I don't like admitting this, your opinion is always more valued then the rest of the community, partly because you've been around longer and are more respected, and partly because you visit more areas of the forum and are more well-known. But no matter what the reason, the community loves hearing from you, and what better way to show that you like this community than to Have Your Say?
So thanks to everyone, and I hope to get a stash of emails when I'm back!
Lenny

Cool, I've got it.Eiturlyf wrote:I'll record it today when my parents aren't here to interrupt me.
Also, it's the beginning of February. I'd like a few more entries so I can boost the length up to 20 minutes or so. If many mods could make a submission that would be great, as well as anyone else who wants to.

Gah! Lenny, I may or may not be able to record something by tonight. If I do send it by tonight, would it be too late? I hope not, but I'll understand if it is. Sorry.
