Also, I am the 275 registered user.

There are a good amount of people who sign up for forums and then simply... don't bother posting for unknown reasons, this one being no exception. At the old forums it was clear that we easily reached the 6000 member mark, when only approximately 500 or less of those accounts have ever been posted with, some of those with their last post over a year or 2 earlier.
This doesn't account for the non-post accumulating areas, however, because someone could post exclusively in Fun and Games, for example, and they will be displayed as having no actual post count but a peek into their profile says otherwise. This situation is unlikely, but not impossible.

If you've seen less than a couple hundred, then you probably haven't been paying attention.
(By the way, we had 3845 posting members at the old forum, not as low as 500.)

Yea 488 members with at least 1 post, and 656 total members.
But the reason you don't see everyone is because of the same effect that happens on every forum I have ever been a part of. There are those people who like to post, this doesn't make them "Post whores" though they can be, and they be come like the celebrities/ entertainment of the forums. Then if it is a forum based around a game like this one, the people that are the "Highscorers" of the game will post and will be known. Then that leaves the Admins/Mods who will be well known because they are both posting and are the ones taking care of the forums.
This is pretty much how is goes for smaller communities and there is nothing wrong with that, But the "Everyone else" will get a few hundred posts as the top posters near 5000+ and they will actually be the main driving force behind the community because for it to be a community we need everyone to participate.
You also have to remember that these forums are relatively new and are based around a community from a game that is relatively unknown. (Although it is a damn travesty that this game isn't the most downloaded game on the internet, because it is fucking awesome.)

No it doesn't. If you click "Search User's Posts" or something to that effect in your profile, you'll see a number of post higher than your actual post count. Those extra posts are in Fun & Games, which I think is the only non-accumulating forum out there, correct me if I'm wrong.

I have seen it myself. Try posting there - note your post count before your post, and once posted, the number will rise by one. I have 1,255 posts in total, and my post count displays 955. I have 533 posts in Messageboard Games, and 955+533 doesn't add up to my total of 1,255 posts - which means that F&G is accumalitive.

I had heard before that F&G doesn't accumulate, so I decided to try it out. I had 332 posts, then posted in "Corrupt a Wish", and it moved to 333.

That's odd. I think we probably shouldn't count posts for F&G, just for the tendency to hog a thread as well as post a lot needlessly. But if we are, c'est la vie!

Hmm. "Rate the Siggy Above You" doesn't increase post count. I've posted a few times there and haven't increased my post count from it.

Hmm, only 251 people with15+ posts, and that's about how much one needs to grab my attention.

well why would your post count accumulate in some threads and not in others? it doesn't make sense

Because F&G for example, is only for fun, and is easily spam-able with no consequences. It's a forum where everyone could just have fun, with no contribution to an actual conversation.
Other forums, where posts have to be relevant, would also be right to increase post count, simply because it's useful.
It's actually like this in life as well. Say for math class, you ask a question about algebra, and it's helps you learn, then that question was a good question. If you ask a question about algae-bras, then you'd get a snicker or two, and that's about it.
Sorry for using a horrible pun, but I'm a little low on examples right now.

that was the funniest thing I've heard all day.
but I agree. just because a member posts doesn't mean he/she contributes, and members like that are found in F&G.
EDIT: also, I am the 168th member (after Radium and before Evil_Bob) , I have the 41st highest post count (above Blackson and below EdoI). gnarly.
