Webcomics...

I was wondering where the various webcomics members have made/are making will be placed in the new forum. I certainly am happy that we've gotten rid of the near out-of-hand, superfluous subforums, but this is something that I'm not sure about. I heard mention of possibly putting them in the Images forum. I think they should be put here. Because webcomics are really more than user-made images. They are (in many cases) long-term projects which take a lot of effort, and deserve to be recognized by the community. So, I'm making this a poll, to gauge the opinions of the community, so the administrators can make a sound decision that will make the most people happy.

Community Projects. While they are images, that's not their main function.

Images. They're not community projects - they are sets of funny images.

I voted for Images, but comics might fit better in the off-topic areas. Unless they're N comics.

Mind you, "Community Projects" does not refer to projects that the whole community participates in. They are individual projects, done by individuals in the community. At least, that's what I got from the forum's description. So, if you were confused about that, or that changes anything, I thought I'd point that out.

Also, not all webcomics have to be funny. And not all of them are. The array of comics that exists sort of distinguishes them from the stereotype, "sets of funny images."

Ha ha ha. Looks like you lost that one, RN, I mean, ruN.

...I still went for community projects. Because "images" is just too generic and the images themselves are also community projects.

Probably Community Projects. Oh, but TROB belongs in Global Announcements. :)

Community Projects is for anything you would consider to be a "project" that isn't for N, isn't an image, and doesn't fall under multimedia. It's something like social, scripted, programmed, or other non-media projects. Webcomics probably don't go there, so much, unless they've got their own websites or are more than just collections of images. Fan apps certainly go there.

Oh Zeus. I guess our old friend here just settled it. (Although we really could use a Webcomic subforum).

NO SUBFORUMS. EVER.

*plugs ears*

I'll pretend I didn't hear that.

I second that.
We still haven't really decided where it should go. I guess we'll all know when it happens. Because the mods and admins certainly aren't spilling any proverbial beans.

Haha, you make it sound like we've secretly decided on a correct place and we'll take administrative actions if you guess incorrectly.

I am leaning on the side of Multimedia. It suits comics the best. They aren't community projects persay (under blue_tetris's definition), and they certainly aren't just 'funny images'.

My first thought was "Hey, why not create a subforum for webcomics in the images section?".
Since that's not going to happen, Community Projects gets my vote.

I think it should be in commynity projects, too

I don't really know. At first I assumed that it would be in Multimedia, but I'm not sure.

I think it should go it Multimedia. It doesn't apply for Images as it is more than just a series of images, it tells a story, and it shouldn't go in Community Projects as I would attribute that for larger projects than a comic strip.

Multimedia all the way.

Why not another forum under N? I think it would be a significant enough addition to warrant not cluttering up another forum.
Here, have a blast form the bast:

Images. They are images. Unless it is a project that involves the community, a comic is an image.

Images is better suited for webcomics, they're not incredible projects of seriousness (except for the exceptional few), so they'd have a better positioning there.

They are community projects. And this is why:
The artist creates the initial comic, the community crituqes it, the artist creates more. It's not a one-sided creation.

I voted for Community Projects, because that's what a webcomic should be labeled as imo. Because going under images would degrade the comic in a way.

Images rarely convey a long-term story. Community Projects are something that probably requires more than just 1 or 2 people to complete the project from start to finish.

I vote Multimedia (other), of which the forum clearly states:

Multimedia
Share and discuss music, videos, and other creative pursuits.

It seems to me that Webcomics are both (A) something you share and discuss, and (B) a creative pursuit. If this is how the Multimedia forum is going to be defined and we can agree that Webcomics are more than images, but not community projects, we can probably agree that they are a creative pursuit of the author of which they would like people to share and discuss their ideas and opinions of it.

Considering paws' point I'd have to agree with him. Looks like Multimedia is the right place.

Images.
I feel though, that there might be a better option, not sure what though.
