NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OVER.

The nomination process for the 2008 Dronies has begun. You may only choose nominations that were created/submitted after 1st December 2007. In the form below, please include your forum name (if you don't have one for some reason, your NUMA username will do), your email address and the list of your nominations. All submissions will be checked to prevent counterfeit entries. Remember, maps that you nominate do not have to be from NUMA; for example, they could be from map packs. You do not have to nominate something for each category, however the more complete your list, the better the final voting will be. You may make amendments to your nominations by resubmitting the form. If that is the case, only categories that are included in your subsequent forms will be changed, and all original nominations will still stand. When nominating something, please include a link to the nominated item if possible. The nomination period closes on November 30th.

The following things are some items that need explaining:

Fan Program of the Year - Nreality is not valid for Fan Program of the Year nominations, due to the fact that it was created before 1st December 2007, regardless of the many changes that it has undergone since then.

Run of the Year - Any run may be nominated for the Run of the Year category, this includes both speedruns and highscore runs, as long as it has not been frame by frame created or used underclock mode.

N Player of the Year - Similarly, N Player of the Year includes both highscorers and speedrunners.

Nreality Map of the Year - Nreality Map of the Year is a category for the best map that uses Nreality to enhance the experience. Only maps that contain modifications through Nreality will be included, and on the flip side, no maps which are modified through Nreality will be accepted for any other category.

Tileset of the Year - Tileset of the Year may come from any map, including playable ones. This category is not just limited to tile art.

Finally, please remember, you cannot nominate anything that you were involved with the creation of.

The Categories:
Action Map of the Year
DDA of the Year
Map Maker of the Year
Level Pack of the Year
Comic of the Year
Fan Program of the Year
N Player of the Year
Run of the Year
Most Innovative Use of Objects or Tiles
N Art of the Year
Puzzle Map of the Year
Race Map of the Year
Survival Map of the Year
Tileset of the Year
Nreality Map of the Year
N Community Recognition Award

So there it is. Please fill in the form below, and let the nominations begin!
I'd also like to send a big thanks out to LittleViking who wrote the HTML for the form.
Post any questions or queries you have below.

Do NUMA runs count for run of the year? Or are they excluded?

Yes, as long as they aren't frame by frame.

I doubt you could get enough votes for any one NUMA demo, however.

Hello, everyone!

I'm helping out lord_day complete the Dronies this year! If you have any Dronies-related questions and really don't feel like asking lord_day about it, feel free and give me a message instead.

Here are some general tips for reviewing all of the notable maps made this year in order to find your nominations:

- Check your favorites list. One of the fastest and easiest ways to look through maps that you have enjoyed this year is to simply refer to that big list you made while browsing NUMA. Feel free to narrow your search even further by adding a keyword (such as "action"), but beware of the "Results truncated" issue.

- Check other authors' favorites lists. Just in case you missed a few lovable maps along the way, or if you simply want to browse through a more varied set of tastes, be sure to look through your fellow mappers' lists. You'd be surprised at what can be found in them.

- Take a glance at the featured maps. Although this service has only been running for a short portion of this year, the featured maps section has samples of all eras of NUMA, including earlier in 2008. Considering that others have felt these maps worthy enough for the front page of the map database, it would be reasonable to at least give them a consideration in your nomination process.

- Browse through the bitesized archive. By simply entering "bitesized" into the search bar, you can stumble upon all of the maps that belonged to the now nonexistent bitesize system. Because this was mostly congruous to the current featuring system, it would be safe to say that you should definitely check these notable maps as well.

- Just dig. NUMA has a good amount of maps on it, and if you find yourself desperate for Dronies nominations, feel free to simply search the vast deposits of levels that exist on the website. To aid your rather tedious efforts, try looking for one genre of maps at a time by adding "action rated" or "puzzle rated" into the search bar. From then on, just start looking for any hidden treasures that were buried in the infinite expanse of maps.

And that's all for now. Get your nominations in, and spread the word!

For what it is worth, this was the first map of the year. Nobody should nominate a map with that ID of a lesser number than this: 112650

Well, as long as it is a good run, or it's on a popular map, it should be fine.

Always felt bad about not voting last year, so I'm going all out this one. I'm gonna compile a list for each category (or most of them at least) and slowly whittle it down. That way I'll end up voting for the best I could find after long consideration.

The best collaboration category would have been completely worthless, considering that a map is rewarded based on the map itself and not on the authors who made it. Whether ten people made a map or just one, the level would still fit into one of the already existing map categories.

Is this form like previous years, where we can fill out more than one form and our latest votes in each category count? Not that I'll inundate the inbox with several copies, but just in case I want to change anything I might nominate.

As for posting a link, do you mean a link using BBCode, or just the url?

Why is everyone so quick to nominate? We still have two months worth of maps left that haven't even been submitted.
