Just browsing, and I noticed that out of the 19 non-pinned topics in here, 8 of them are locked.
Sure, maybe some of these are actually relevant (like... one or - maybe - two), but even excluding these we get a 1/3rd percentage of topics that are, essentially, a waste of space.
Don't think that it's just here, either. Checking out "This Forum" I can see 6 locked and non-pinned topics currently (with several more that probably should be), and across many other sub-forums I can see two or three (with a very surprising 0 in "General Discussion").
So, what's my point? If you're just about to start a new topic in here - or anywhere, for that matter - please make sure that it's actually relevant. If it's a complaint about something pointless, maybe it should go in General Discussion? If you've got a query specific for one or two people (generally admins or mods), send them a message instead of giving us all the ability to read it. Maybe, if it's a post that should actually be in another topic, post it in there? Or, if it's something that's meant to go in an entirely different sub-forum, put it there instead?
Don't stop posting altogether - that would be ludicrous. Instead, before you post something (especially a new topic), just take a couple of seconds to wonder whether it's actually or relevant, and whether or not you're putting it in the right place.
Thanks, and stay clean.
Lenny
P.S. No, I am not locking this for the sake of irony.

Couldn't agree more. There have been a ton of pointless topics lately.Lenny wrote:Hey Guys,

I missed all of this. What exactly was Borealis's identity, and compared to what we all thought it was?987654321 wrote:I think it all stemmed from Borealis's thread about his identity.

No, no; hardly. I've drawn up a handy picture to explain.987654321 wrote:I think it all stemmed from Borealis's thread about his identity.

As can be seen, with the green ticks supporting your point and the big red crosses (and additional few-letter comments) disagreeing. Clear majority away, I believe. You are right, it certainly had a large influence on this number (because, as I point out half way down the picture, some topics are just dumb), but it wasn't all his fault at all.

Oh, yeah; I cut out the pinned ones because they were irrelevant to my argument.Chase wrote:None of those topics are pinned?
