Funniest and most true thing I've read all day.makinera wrote:but hey you can go to google maps and zoom in and out and pan and then go to the new york times and zoom and pan and then head over to wikipedia and zoom and pan. also you can do this all for over 10 hours on one charge. all the zooming and panning you can handle for over ten hours, why wouldn't anyone want to pay $800 for such impressive features. who needs flash anyways.
And yeah. Maybe instead of buying an iPad, you could buy a computer which would cost you less. How would you control the ninja anyway? The only button you've got would exit the game.

Just touch where you want to go, and tap to jump. It would be a bit harder, but the levels would change in difficulty to suit the new controls. Also, how do the current games run on the iPad? Can't N just be changed from Flash into whatever that is?Lenny wrote:How would you control the ninja anyway? The only button you've got would exit the game.
(Oh, and if the touch controls would be too hard, you could always have a left and right key in the right hand corner and the jump in the left hand corner).

Helpful response to someone who has no idea about programming?makinera wrote:ahahhgamgnamhnadmmmm T___TUniversezero wrote:Can't N just be changed from Flash into whatever that is?
Universe, I'm not versed in this stuff either, but apparently Adobe are/have released something that will allow the translation of flash software into compatible iphone applications. Google it yourself if you want to read up (I literally skim read the first couple of results, I'm not sure of the actual details).
And to those asking about control systems, the controls would likely be in the form of a virtual d-pad and jump button layered over the top of the screen in each corner. On the ipad this would be a big deal as the screen is large enough to allow a border to prevent these from sitting on the game screen itself, on the iphone it might be more of an issue.
TBH, n+ would be a much more viable translation (with it's scrolling screens and such).
I'm not championing the thing (no hate, no love), but I'd imagine it's the screen size + access to the wonderful (and it is wonderful) applications library that's the lure.987654321 wrote:My phone from 2006, (Motorola Q) can play SNES,Genesis, NES, and Gameboy games. At full speed with sound.
I really don't see the big deal about the iPad. Maybe it's just the brand.

This is cool, but I think the opposition would tell you that the money spent could get her something just as fun with many more features.mintnut wrote:All you people who dislike it; I don't think you fall into the demographic for this kind of thing.

Not sure if this is actually true, though. The application library being exactly what the casual non-computer literate populous love. Well, that and the apple aesthetics and style.
Oh, and way to go murdering the semi-colon minty! :p

Ha, it also helps that our household has had macs/apple products in it since forever, so I will concede that this point is not without its, er, near complete lack of actual point.

It has a very responsive touch screen and a really slick OS for what it does.
Sure, it's more expensive than a lot of other products that can /do/ more, but they don't have access to the applications and general plug and play suitability of the ipad.
The ipad is not a terrible product, it could be better of course (and as they slowly release updates to cash in, it will become so), but it suits the needs of many perfectly.

And an intentionally short time before, Apple made an update to their app store policy that forbids apps made with cross-compilers (my jargon might be slightly off there, because I'm not actually a mobile OS developer, but I think my meaning got across). They basically made an update that was specific enough to exclude only Adobe, but without naming them.a happy song wrote:apparently Adobe are/have released something that will allow the translation of flash software into compatible iphone applications.
Steve Jobs is all about HTML5, and it might be one of the only issues on which I agree with the man.

It's perfectly feasible, if someone can code the application from scratch and get it working it shouldn't be a problem. You could have a virtual D Pad.

If the source code for N is ever released, then this could become a distinct possibilty. As it is though, I'm not all together sure that this is either feasibly or even a good idea. The end result undoubtedly vary from N and in potentially negative ways. I'd say if somebody wanted to do this, they would be best of trying to convince M+R to release the source code for N whilst the fanbase is still going strong.Chase wrote:This thread needs a strong spray of anti troll.

Wouldn't that then enter some issues with legality?Chase wrote:Doesn't have to use the same source code, just attempt to get it working similarly. But that'd be a hell of a project.
