Metanet Diaspora

This is just an idea and I'd leave it up to people with more knowledge of web design/dev if there's any desire for it but I think it would be cool for the Metanet community to run their own Diaspora seed. As some of you know, the developer release came out yesterday and I'd really like the throw my support behind it. Anything to get me off Facebook, you know? Because I trust the powers behind droni.es, I was wondering it maestro might set this up or, you know, whatever.

Would anyone use this except me?

After looking up Diaspora on Wikipedia, I am none the wiser. What are you suggesting, exactly?

OH SHIT RIGHT THIS CAME OUT TWO DAYS AGO HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN

Depending on how into it I get, I know of a way I might possibly get a discounted price on a particular server farm. I've been considering renting out some service there for a little while, and this might end up being the final compelling reason. We'll see.

I'm far from a web developer, but I am in full support of this project.

Oh hell. It just occurred to me that this could be the next developmental step up from these forums. Perhaps even replacing them.

I figured you'd be putting the source from their github somewhere but you're the webdev guy. What do I know?

Oh. I'll set up a server, and give incluye admin access, then sit around while he does all the work.

Diaspora apparently has some pretty serious security flaws so I might consider holding off on this for now.
