Who would care if I handpicked the finalists for The Dronies? (gloomp, I need your help for this.)

I take this lack of anyone giving a shit as a sign that you guys have given up on the Dronies.

To be fair, there are more than a hundred maps there. That is really a shitload of work to expect many people to do. Also you've said not to sign up to vote if you're nominated or if you have nominated already so I don't really understand what this? Also I'm boycotting the Dronies because I'm not on the best member list even though a bunch of guys who haven't even been in the community for the past year are so fuck you guys.

I thought I made this clear. These maps etc. listed are only about half of what I received. I only need like four or five dedicated people to fill it out, but I didn't wanna be biased and pick them myself.

I don't even know who taursabwhatever is so I'm fairly sure he's not the most influential member of the year. And Sunset is not a new mapper. That's all.

EDIT: oh, I'm not on that list either, oughts. We can boycott together.

It's a spambot. I nominated it to symbolise the fact that 2011 was basically the year that spambots ruled metanet. They joined in large swathes and I'd guess that they were responsible for the majority of posts across the board. Perhaps the simultaneity of their rise with a steep drop in the activity of current members, making the nomination in this category more difficult, is not a coincidence.

The previous paragraph is a complete joke, except for the first six words. I did it for no reason at all.

zoasBE: Nice formatting. And ^.>.v<^ is trying to cut down on a long list of nominations; this isn't the finalised list. Perhaps he's throwing out the "more obvious" choices to make a decision on the borderline ones. And the worst joke nomination is Paradox-Dragon for community member of 2011.

I know right, (i was almost as bad as kuri in 2011 from October 7th to Sometime in December, that's about half of the half year i was in the community almost), 2012 was when i did all my good stuff

Hey buttholefuy, I put a lot of work into making the nomination forms. A lot. I ask you guys for something small, and three people deliver. I'm tired of doing all this work with no payoff. If you guys paid me back somehow, I'll get them finished. But y'all are waiting for me, and I just want to be done with this.

But yeah, summary of why the Dronies ain't workin' - not enough peepl interested on the results. I am one of those obviously, and I say this with all the respect in the world.

I'm pretty sure no-one except Aidiera is actually clear on what the problem is and what needs to be done.

Nobody will help me choose. I will do it myself but only if everybody's okay with that.

You are all really stupid. The problem is that only like 20 nominations came in. Naturally, everyone nominated different maps. There's no "choosing." Let's go home.

What if the reviewers (or some other specially chosen panel) came together and chose the winners, similar to the way sports writers choose an MVP? We could call the awards something other than the Dronies if the idea of changing the format rubs people the wrong way. What's the difference between democracy and oligarchy when the community's this small?

Use the nominations people have submitted and let the panel pick from those. That way there's less hassle of voting and whatnot. Next year, we just ask people to nominate and do it again.

Or vice versa: have an expert panel choose the nominations and let the plebs other valued community members vote.

The problem with this is that sports writers aren't players. We don't have an elite group of players and members who people respect. At least, not anymore.
