The Flashbulb - Red Extensions of Me

Amon Tobin - Permutation
These are AWESOME. I'm currently going to look in to more acid jazz-y stuff. If anyone has a recommendation, please let me know. :3

I've been listening to Owl City for the past day, and it's my favorite newly-found band, followed closely by The Weepies.

Wow, I just discovered two new bands in one night. That's pretty good for me.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Storm: Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven, Gathering Storm, Cancer towers on Holy road Hi-way
(If you like them, you should check out From Monument to Masses.)
Secondly,
Explosions in the Sky - The Birth and Death of the Day

quote was a bit fucked up, but whatever.
i dont know.. its the same as with thom yorke, but i care about death cab more at the moment (which is pretty funny, really).
its only a small betrayal to me though, although the books are pretty average they mean a lot to a lot of people for god knows what reason. at least theyre adding their influence to something as popular as the series, as much as i'm unimpressed with the whole thing.
who knows, maybe music like theirs will become more popular because of it and we'll get more bands influenced by them and more of it will be around. i just kind of like the whole alt scene cause of how unpredicatable it is. and i like death cab and the decemberists cause their lyrics are all a mixture of crazy metaphors and cleverly depressing phrases. "With a single pillow underneath your single head." things like that make me laugh, cause of how much i can relate at times. its like the opposite of why i like muse. they pile on the epic but generally keep it pretty simple lyrically (awesome, but simple). people like the decemberists and death cab have a much less epic sound and much more fun lyrics, and i kind of find them more relate-able. i also enjoy escape the fate and cold by winter and underoath and other random emo crap, mostly cause of the energy behind them. and things like the flashbulb's music are fun just cause they have unpredictably constant beats (if that makes any sense) and melodies that compile into something you can dance slowly, bop your head, or completely flip out to.
how would you describe my taste?
sorry for the huge, directionless rant by the way.

What? Death Cab for Cutie sold out when they signed to a major label and sold millions of copies for Plans.

Heh, about that...SlappyMcGee wrote:What? Death Cab for Cutie sold out when they signed to a major label and sold millions of copies for Plans.
Well, I approve of that action since that's how I found out about them, but them being on the Twilight basically undoes all that effort.

Muse, Radiohead, and The Killers are on the album as well. You seriously can't hate a band after their record label sells one of their songs on a compilation album for a horrible movie series.Kablizzy Sucks wrote:Heh, about that...SlappyMcGee wrote:What? Yesterday I listened to the vinyl records from my In Rainbows discbox for the first time. £40 finally put to good use!
P.S.
Actually, the songs are original and exclusive to the soundtrack.Flight wrote:Muse, Radiohead, and The Killers are on the album as well. You seriously can't hate a band after their record label sells one of their songs on a compilation album for a horrible movie series.

From what I understand, Thom Yorke contributed a song, and everybody else followed suit. (Grizzly Bear member agreed with this hypothesis.)
