The first round of Administrong is designed to weed out some of the competition as well as to show how well you can collaborate. Yeah, that's right. Being the best parts of a whole is the goal here, and without the social aspects usually associated with collabing. If you're wondering how this is revolutionary, it's not, yet. This is just a good way to get a feel for what kind of mappers you are , and whether you can create good gameplay instances that aren't dependant on grander concepts, like art.
You'll each be given one sixth of the standard empty map to fill. There are some logical rules here; don't put any ninjas and don't seal off any sides. You can have partial wall, so that if your roommate had another partial wall it would block it; don't worry about that stuff. But try to avoid sealing off a side of your portion. Try and make some sort of challenge specific to your sixth. Maybe a mine jumper, or maybe you have to avoid a chase drone hanging out there.
Now, to be perfectly precise. that means you get ten squares horizontally (left to right) if you are in a corner, and eleven if you are at the center spaces. The bottom goes to the halfway line including the middle square. That means that the bottom left corner will have ten squares horizontally and 12 vertically. The squares are shown using "L" in the neditor.

So, you'll each be making one of those sections. Get it? Good. Don't? Ask somebody.
Now, here's what's going to happen. The ten best of these 70 portions will get a free pass to the next round, their portion unused. (If there are any dropouts at this point, and no willing replacements, this section will suffer and few of you will get free passes.) You're done!
The ten worst will be put in the first unusual position of the competition. You'll be given a rather incomplete map, made up of five other parts and your own! It's your job to fix it. Make it a workable map. You have complete creative decision, and you need to prove to us that you can make a map from these parts.
Every section submitted will be graded, critiqued and returned to you. The criteria for the individual piece will be 15 points for creativity, 15 for playability, and ten for it's use in the map. That means that you might want to get on the wire to the guy using your map and pressure him, let him know what you were trying to do with your map section and make sure it is used properly.
The people making the maps will be graded with 15 points for creativity, 15 for playability, and ten for the edits they made. Were they necessary edits? Did you keep the idea of the individual part intact?
Here are your sections:

Your part is due in ONE WEEK! That's seven days! We'll give you a place to put these then, don't go PMing them, but feel free to submit to NUMA or post them here if you want.
As always, help is encouraged! Help the dudes around you, and you might just win a prize you weren't expecting.
ONE WEEK!
Love,
~Staff
