I don't know; even though they were cheaters, I think you could make a case for them being very influential players, despite not actually being as skilled as they appear.ska wrote:excluded players who have either admitted to cheating or are suspected of cheating
Also I think you should clarify what you mean by players, exactly: do you mean highscorers, or would you include prolific speedrunners, like kryX and Kool as well? Also people like moh and TRO have been very influential in contributing so many innovations to the game, so it seems unfair to exclude them if your list comprises all players.

Yes. I know about these guys, especially moh. I'm quite aware of his innovations and TAS runs but I wanted this list to specifically comprise of highscorers who specifically influenced me as a (legitimate) player/highscorer.Seneschal wrote:I don't know; even though they were cheaters, I think you could make a case for them being very influential players, despite not actually being as skilled as they appear.ska wrote:excluded players who have either admitted to cheating or are suspected of cheating

I actually think that zj and TFK deserve to be on that list. And probably macrohenry. I'm glad to see you have melchoir though.

I am honored that you think I should be up there Cheese, especially considering I only have 3 metanet top 20s rofl. I would say that I have been more influential about the confines of the physics engine and possibly some routes, but I like the list so far, I personally think kryX should be up there because even though he cheated his runs were quite influential in showing people that could be done. Moh has done this to the extreme extent showing people that can be done when human error comes out of the equation. But I understand your rules as to why people are up there, and I quite like the list.ska wrote:Yes. I know about these guys, especially moh. JF admitted to have cheated 89-0. (to try key mapping but i'm not sure)
And well, it wasn't a 0th.
EDIT:

They are 89-0 and 87-0. I didn't want to submit them but I did it when submiting my other episode runs.
These were like test runs. I wouldn't risk to ruin my reputation because of cheating ( what reputation?).
pokemaniac: you know 2 people that cheat. I know a lot more, trust me.

Yeah JF did do two cheated runs on 89-0 and one other can't remember ^^, and I know it is kind of hypocritical to keep him in the rankings, and ignore others like L3X who had both cheated and legit runs, but hey the system is not perfect, but I do the best I can to keep the boards as legit as possible. I also agree that tktktk should be higher since he was really the first great highscorer, but as Ska said it is players to who influenced him the most and that makes the list very opinionated. But if other people were to post their lists I think that would be a good idea, Although I don't mean to highjack Ska's thread.rocket_thumped wrote:tktktk should be higher.
Johnny_Faneca was an admitted cheater.

Honestly, players like Afterthought and Kaellstar were retired before I'd even began highscoring but they did cross my mind. As for tktktk, his influences were widespread. He made some amazing maps but his 0th domination came at a time before Trib4l was around, let alone me. I actually found Brett_Sully quite influential back in the day...Pheidippides wrote:So Afterthought is... an afterthought?

I think tktktk was more of a mapping influence than a highscoring influence. After all, he did quit in, like, 2005.ska wrote:Honestly, players like Afterthought and Kaellstar were retired before I'd even began highscoring but they did cross my mind. Exactly, his maps are his legacy. I guess I could relate to players like tktktk who had a strengths in mapping and playing.Kablizzy wrote:I think tktktk was more of a mapping influence than a highscoring influence. Also, the reason tktktk is not higher is because N was not very competitive back then. People were still adjusting to the physics and most people hadn't achieved their potential by that point.

I have more credibility and skill than most of those players easily. as does kryX. but we never get noticed for all our 0ths cuz we're sr, which apparently, some think is easier or something. which is total bullshit as I don't see any of those players excluding a few taking our 0ths. :/
