Sabk, glad to see someone using this thread but that's not really using it properly (see page1 for rules if what to do is not obvious for you)
I remembered a map by Dongle that 'captured my imagination'. After the database mishap I thought I wouldn't see it again because it turned out I was completely off track about what I thought its name was. Disappointed/bored I did a search for Dongle as title and it turns out he simply named that map with his own game name. So here it is http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/nv2.html?l=4068
Ja-no-hige http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/nv2.html?l=134944 by Fujita Seiko -not the first time he used this concept. I also had the gates concept idea but tried to make it complex(with diagonal panels placed in some boxes) and messed up(+it looked ugly) and didn't finish it. But what I really like about this map is that it looks nice and when horizontal path ways open up it adds high speed into the mix and you feel like a 'bull in a china shop'
5000th map http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/nv2.html?l=13807 by thunder -yep!
Edit http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/nv2.html?l=139790 by Dansavit (orginal was called robot thingy) -I think is a unique map. I like his drawings of course too, esp Rose 2 and the lion (cause of gameplay)
Inclus (tileset by legendklokpok) http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/nv2.html?l=136346 by Spartax18 -crazy map! and Spartax put a demo up
Shomman by trollking http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/nv2.html?l=127524 -Except I think it would be nicer if instead of the two right bbs there was just one in the middle to be shared

Hey, Woodlore, welcome to the userlevels, I haven't seen you on there before!
You display a high level of skill, took quite a while to beat some of your runs. You should consider doing some metanet highscoring, or participating in Npoints, the weekly contest!

Hey people!
It's been a long time since i uploaded a map anywhere else than 2.0, primarily due to lack of creativity and ideas for maps, and then due to NUMA issues. I'm writing this as a substitution to NUMA, because there are still some good critics on this forum. So yeah, i just want some feedback from you (mainly experienced mappers, but you'll be good too).
So, what's the point? What i'm on about? Well, i want to share here my maps that i didn't think were good enough for NUMA, but i also think they're worth taking a look and an evaluation.
I will start with the maps i can find and i'm sure are neat:

Sparta, I keep forgetting that you're really good at mapping. I can't speak for NUMA, obviously, but these are all 5/5 by the Nv2 standard.
The only criticism I can think of is that most of them are pretty linear. It's always obvious where you're supposed to go next, and so path innovation is really difficult. However, this is so common in Nv2 that I don't even know that I can say this is really a problem.
All of the maps play really well and look really cool. If you put half the time into mapping that you put into highscoring, I think everyone would recognize you as one of the best mappers of v2.

Toast's completely right. These levels are really good. I especially enjoyed that Katipolis one. Spent a while on that. Spent even longer on Better speed up! and just managed to get over 13k.
I think these levels are definitely NUMA worthy. Go upload them! (but not all at once)

Yes, i know it's one of my biggest problems. Open maps are like black magic for me :DXandoToaster wrote:The only criticism I can think of is that most of them are pretty linear. It's always obvious where you're supposed to go next, and so path innovation is really difficult.
Actually, i stopped highscoring about a month ago to focus on other things (mainly learning programming, but i also increased the mapping frequency). However, here comes my another problem. Even if i have a huge inspiration and a perfect idea, i just can't spend more than 30 minutes on mapping. It gets dull and instead of making the map i'm starting doing other things simultanousely and i end up with no inspiration, no ideas and no willingness to finish the level.XandoToaster wrote:If you put half the time into mapping that you put into highscoring, I think everyone would recognize you as one of the best mappers of v2.
Also, i don't think your logic works here, because i'm not a great player... Maybe if there was a substitution to clocking in mapping!
Awesome! Great job, mate!shomman wrote:Spent even longer on Better speed up! and just managed to get over 13k.
As i said in my first post - It's been a long time since i uploaded a map anywhere else than 2.0 [...] due to NUMA issues.. I don't know if you were aware, but NUMA got broken again and no one is able to post their maps.shomman wrote:I think these levels are definitely NUMA worthy. Go upload them! (but not all at once)

okay guys, I'm gonna get this thread moving again
Who is the best Nv2 mapper?
I nominate hunterinfiniti
If anybody disagrees with me, then say so. If nobody says anything then I will assume we are all in agreement on this.

Personally, I was a fan of Brainstone's 3 maps.
Is this limited to solely Nv2 mappers?

On the one hand, I would say this should be limited to people who have posted maps on v2. lifdoff, for example, who has posted maps for v2 and 1.4, would be included, but do not include anyone who exclusively maps for 1.4.Spackal wrote:Personally, I was a fan of Brainstone's 3 maps.

But on the other hand, I don't think it really matters. I'm not going to delete posts that don't adhere to this rule.
Also, I searched Brainstone on v2 user levels and only 1 map came up. Did he do more before the database crash?
I do see he posted a lot on numa, and I agree, his maps are very good.

He didn't make many maps, and as far as I know, they were lost in the crash. If you look in the unrated levels, a couple pages in there's a map of a lighthouse, that one's his. The only other map I can remeber is something along the lines of "Eigenvalve" . Loved that map to bits, but can't find it. He also did "Concrete Cellar 14" (?). Might be able to find them on NUMA

Kinda hard to nominate Spackal cause he 's right here in this conv, but yea I nominate u Spackal. ..except maybe some maps are bit too much like nothing even if they're clean cut (same like some of harry's). Btw this map makes me favour Lifdoff http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/nv2.html?l=196834 but the shape of the bottom half that I like is like Losttortuga's one in http://www.nmaps.net/232820 so that just makes me think of the quality of lostty
