A low jump at the start after collecting the first batch of gold can save like 10 frames or so if done right. Not terribly difficult. Getting the right speed so that you can clear the second platform but still collect the gold can be a bit tricky.
Nifty! Might be a good one for Eddy to try in an episode run.

Just tied Eddy's 33-3 with a completely reversed route, it's slightly harder but I feel like it has more potential.

Someone make this work. Then do it in a real run... That is all.

I highly doubt that is possible unless you can get one of those absurd slope propulsions.

Golf and I were just brainstorming some ideas in IRC tonight. Here are two incomplete thoughts that came from that session. The first isn't super difficult in itself, but because of the time saved it requires a CJ/RCJ at the exit switch because of where the drone will be. The second is quite hard and because of how high you have to jump to get the right angle I am not sure you will actually net much if any time saved from skipping the WJ.

Nice innovs, so the first one will most likely be enough to use the cj route as you mentioned. The second innov, Raif is already using it in his MBD, he doesn't jump any higher than normal, although then you have to control how the ninja bumps on the spike, but I think its doable, not sure how hard it is though.

Yeah I am sure it is possible, but as far as real time is concerned after about 15 minutes of attempts I didn't get one where I AGD-ed and survived the fall through all 3 gold groups. And the lower your angle the hard it is. So I was speaking from a practicality standpoint.

As far as the triple jump innovation. I think for real time it would actually make sense to do this.

This is a double and no corner jump, so significantly easier. The only issue is that the double jump has to be faster than the current PJ route to beat the drone, but slow enough that the drone isn't too high up the left wall blocking the WJ used in this route otherwise the CJ is required.

When did raif even make this? I don't really remember it...

He didn't, I did. That was my first ever attempt at an mbd (you can tell because it sucks)

So THAT's why I can't play user levels sometimes?! I've always wondered. And yeah, not cool right now. Panicking slightly for lack of time and whatnot.

20-4 SR

Testing various openings. These only apply when going for the closer 4 tile double jump.

121f

121f

119f

118f

117f

For the curious, this opening is: 2 frames of Nothing, Left, Then a 4 frame jump on the first frame you hit the floor.

This is a route change for 46-0 I cooked some time ago:

I think it's like .750 faster, but it doesn't work quite well with the floorguard. Maybe a change could still make it worthwhile.

This is the equivalent section done with the current route:

39-2.

I've spent a few hours trying to put together a 0th run, but I find the second-highest row to be really tedious. As you can see, my route is much faster. I had been sitting on this idea for years, but Eddy's latest post about it provoked me to try to put something concrete together. I also wonder if a super-jump from the launchpad might be an interesting idea... Doesn't hurt to experiment, guys! Sorry, Ed, but it looks like you'll need to redo your episode 39 0th after all!

Yeah, that row is the problem of that level. In any case, I doubt I'll be redoing it, because of level -4 and the risk of missing gold. But nice route, great save, I might try to implement it.

It's been nearly seven years since spect passed away. As I was going to his YouTube channel to reflect on his memory, I saw again this old innovation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZC3tUs9Krc

I can't remember the level name, but do you think this could help in a run (or is it redundant)?

I've had this happen to me by accident before. Tried to replicate it but couldn't do it precisely enough to make it effective

This is level 79-2, and the innov was already implemented.

Haha... That's hilarious. Not only did you do the innov—I did it ages ago but evidently forgot that I did. Good to know that at least his innov was made use of .
