Some news:
Unreality wrote:It seems that the quotaless.com site has removed the whole NReality site, including the database.

I am contacting their admin now...
I'm not sure if that means all the old data is lost or not. Unreality didn't mention if he has a backup or anything. :\

I'll post again as soon as I know more.

Alright, so I've caught up with Unreality in full, and here's the deal:
Unreality has his own site, http://www.infunity.com, hosted on his own server. The NReality server is n.infunity.com, but that's not on his own server - it's just a URL mask for a http://www.quotaless.com site.

Recently, quotaless just took down his site. Completely. All data gone. Why? So far, Unreality hasn't been able to get a reason out of them, other than this general one. While that certainly sucks, I don't think there's a way to get the data back at this point.

So what to do now? Unreality will have to put the site on his own server. He does have a database backup, but it's 8 months old. On the one hand, that sucks. On the other hand, it could be worse - everyone's highscores still exist in local .sol files, meaning that everyone still has their own scores, it's just that they need to resubmit them to the database. A pain in the neck? Yes. Permanent damage? No.

When I asked how long it would take to set up his own server with the 8-month-old backup database, he said it would take a full day, and that he doesn't think he has much time, but he'll see what he can do. So Unreality is working on it. In the meantime, you probably shouldn't hold your breath.

My computer has been formatted and I dont have a backup of my .sol file. That means I lost about 60 or 70% of my scores.

Well that sucks. * will now be completely meaningless and there are a couple of people I know of who don't have copies of their data. Hopefully this means that n.infunity.com will be more reliable. Other than that I can't think of any silver lining.
Numerous ex-0ths (xaaaaeeeelaaaar!), over 300 top-20s and a 19+ hour total score.

Oh yeah, I forgot about .sol problems and *'s. That makes it more of a disaster then. :(

That can't be right.

The post on that page is dated 21/1/09 and refers to what would have happened "next week". The problem started ages before that.

(At least I have a backup .sol and a word document with details of my 800+ NReality scores...)

I used to have 1100 NReality scores and I have a list of all of them in http (what good will that do?). I think my scores would be reduced to about 500.

I love how the general reason link doesn't even work.

NReality might be dead.

Hmm I hate to "bite the hand that feeds" so to speak, but I do remember reminding Unreality at certain points of time to ensure that highscore boards were backed up regularly, or better yet, data mirrored on another site or stored on his hard drive. It is annoying to see this happen, not only because I have lost an unknown quantity of highscores, but I won't be able to submit some of the good runs I made, or view runs which could be used in the next N vid unless those players send my the data of their runs. This is a big stuff up. Hopefully Unreality can get to the bottom of this soon.

Oh yeah, and I had a really cool NReality map I was wanting to submit ;(

Just a general question, does an episode completion count if it is in underclock? I played some levels, and the record times didn't save (I'd know, but I accidentally pressed q). I want to know to see if it is worth the hastle of beating an episode on underclock.

It does count, but i personally think it's cheating.

Agreed. Doesn't mean I haven't done it twice. Not to say that I have done it twice, just that me agreeing with Condog doesn't mean I haven't done it twice. Yeah. *whistles nervously*

Actually, this makes me want to attempt to beat those two episodes legitimately. I think one of them might be a lost cause, but the other is probably doable. Off I go to try. Thanks for the motivation, Brainwasher!

EDIT: Done! That took what, 40 minutes? Not too bad at all. In case anyone's wondering, it was episodes 110 and 111.

Those were precisely the episodes I was talking about, actually. Any suggestions as to which - level speed is the best?

I had to download NReality since I bought a new computer and -- I've noticed NReality has few updates! NReality level (code: 111791) has new, dark image that shows how, when you get in front of dark surface, ninja switches the color (if you're black you get white etc.). Also, in Ned, your mouse position also has coordinates above. Unfortunately (if these were updates, but I weren't noticing them), the background color is still kinda yellow, it's the thing that bothers me most in NReality. BTW the transparent update seems to be faster than ever, imo!

YES!!! Finally!

However, the database contains no scores later than September, so all the scores from October onwards are not there. We have to wait for them to be resubmitted.
(That's good for me, as a few of my *1sts and *2nds are now *0ths, and my lower-ranked scores have gone up by about three or four places. However, everyone's view count has decreased.)
