you know now you just made me mad. the first round ended july 17th. today is july 27th, and round 2 has been started to keep the participants busy because someone still didn't manage to finish round 1. compiling and posting the results of the judges takes about 10 minutes tops, judging itself maybe 2 hours at the most. every contest i have been in has been this way. and i haven't been in a contest for a long time, but i thought i would give it another go, maybe this time the people who run it would actually give a shit.
it gets really annoying. but if you complain just a little bit and tell some people to hurry up a little, someone drops a smart-ass comment and makes me look like a 13-year old internet junkie that reloads this page every ten seconds, waiting for a response. and that i just cannot accept.
some posts read stuff like "will take less than 3 days" or "will be done smoothly" or "shouldn't take more than a day", yet nobody has the decency to say they fucked up and apparently they are just not capable of running a contest in an internet forum.
i don't expect things to be "quick and snappy". i just expect them to eventually happen before next christmas. and that "people have lives"-thing is just a cheap piece-of-crap argument and you know it. if you care to START a contest for a 1.4 MB flashgame, you obviously spend enough time on the computer to keep it going. unless you're unreliable.

I agree with everything you have said. about half the people in this contest have dropped off the face of the planet, but this is how most contests work out sTalkR. I understand your frustration. I'll stick with cutting people after combination of Round 1 and 2 judging; hopefully this'll give BNW time to finish his stuff.

I haven't been bothered with the pace of this competition but if it bothers anybody that it's not going as promised, this anybody has the right to be grumpy (IMO)..
I also do think that a week is a long time to make a map (if you start on day 1) while it is necessary for some :)
Well here's my go :p
I came to like it fairly much

I hope this doesnt get updated for another 4 days or so. That way I can be back from my trip and not have to worry about missing a deadline. But it better be done soon. >.>

I'd just like to add a suggestion - since BnW seems to have disappeared, could you find someone to replace him? Someone a bit more reliable, perhaps? Also, I'm going on holiday on Friday: I'll be away for ten days, so if you do get this up and running again, please take that into consideration.

Cumilative Results
stonedeagle, Blackson, and UndeadPie are eliminated for having the lowest cumilitive scores. Blackson, we/I always take into consideration the theme when making the objects. Just take a look at what the other contestants did! It seems you have no versatility when it comes to style. well boo-hoo for you, muthafuckah!== Riobe ==

Well, it seems you have no versatility in placing usable object sets. Put some objects that allow for concepts! Don't just make awful gold placements and unusuable enemies!bobaga_fett wrote:Blackson, we/I always take into consideration the theme when making the objects. sorry i gotta side with bobaga on this one. the mere fact that many people managed to make good symmetrical maps out of those objects defies your whole argument.

Well bobaga you didnt have to be such a dick about it.
I have to agree with blackson on some of the objects. Just look at this last one. How are you supposed to make a great map when you are given the theme platforms with 4 chainguns on the canvas. Platforms encourage the use of open space while the chainguns discourage it. It just doesnt match up. And some bounce pads would launch you absolutely nowhere while others into 6 pieces of gold and a chaingun.
The one before that had the theme of symmetrical but was only symmetrical in one way. Which basically forces everyone to do it the exact same way. If it had some radial symmetry then it would have had a lot more options for everybody. Then instead of just having just 2 types of enemies and one type of obstacle have a bigger assortment of everything.
I think the more you make the objects versatile the more enjoyment people will get from this comp.
(I just feel like I needed to defend blackson on this one....) :/

I am not giving up on this contest! here is the data for Round 3. This time we/I will allow for objects to be half-covered or quarter-covered by tiles, but not fully covered.
remaining contestants:
- vox63
- Kablizzy Sucks
- sTalkR
- spudzalot
- Riobe
- spoof
- numa_ninja
- cheesemonger
- Inspired
The theme for this round is Odd Shapes. After discussing this with BNW, also new to this round is a voting system! (I know it's really exciting) The bottom four maps deemed by my/our judging this round will be nominated for elimination; all non-nominated contestants will rank the bottom four based upon quality via a PM to me or BNW if he ever reappears. The contestant that receives the most 1st placing by the voters will be saved and the rest will be eliminated.
(no numbers are required on the non-nominated contestants' part; just rank 'em).
yes, the profanity was completely unessecary and I apologize for it. I have PMed him personally. hm, you bring up a valid point considering the symmetrical map, spudzalot, but I disagree with regard to the platform map. The launchpads are supposed to propel the ninja away from the chainguns, which make an open spaced environment very hostile; and the tiles act as a cover of course. either that or I am a moron. probably the latter. I hope these objects are better
Maps are due Thursday, August 13 to quicken this thing up, as you have requested

EXAMPLE
Contestants A, B, C, D and E are up for elimination. Contestant Z ranks their respective maps and sends their vote to me, like so:
1st - Contestant B
2nd - Contestant D
3rd - Contestant C
4th - Contestant E
5th - Contestant A
