No. If you submit a completion demo, you get a +1 bonus when you challenge the Gym. If you submit an AGD, its a +3 bonus.Slayr wrote:does the demo hav to be agd?

I have a suggestion. Maybe we can have a New Year Special Event.
I understand if you don't have the time to do so.

Trust me, I have /more than enough/ Special Event ideas right now. Also, I like the philosophy 'Blizz expressed in one of the Metanet Podcasts: "I don't want to do something just because it's New Year's. Things shouldn't come to the point where you feel you have to do something awesome on a particular day. You should /want/ to do something awesome /everyday/." (Paraphrased, I listened to it a while ago.) In other words, once we get the contest running smoothly (Hopefully after we work out the kinks over break, it will be.), awesome stuff will happen whenever I can manage to do it and do it right. Not all of it will be mapping, either.lil'n wrote:I have a suggestion. Maybe we can have a New Year Special Event.

If a new Gym ever does get added, it should be a race by Destiny.

I dont think it should be a race, dda, or any other special maps ,,toasters wrote:If a new Gym ever does get added, it should be a race by Destiny.
because most people here cant pull of things like that well enough for people to enjoy,
Most people are Mappers who can pull of a simple action,, with the tiny twist added

Sure you can, notsteve. Also, maybe I will put up a scrimmage thread soon. Hopefully we'll see more of them then. And as for additional Gym Leaders or something of the sort, there will be things like that in the future. I'll probably talk it over with the current Gym Leaders about who should be added and exactly how things would work once we get to that point.

If we do expand the # of gym leaders, we'd have to add 8 more to make an even 16.
Switching gears: I'd be happy to scrimmage anyone or judge a scrimmage, but be warned, I am an easy opponent. ^_^

and I agree with pikman about the num of gym leaders. Staying close to where this contest was based of of, it can be something like the kanto region, jhoto region, etc. (spelling?). New rules, new leaders. 2 champions >_> ALTHOUGH..... that would be very hard to keep track of.

If i ran a race gym, which would be great, it would be cool. I think it would be a better special event though. A gym open for just the week. Dont know how it would work in the sigbar though.

If there is a Jhoto added, it should only be accessible after you beat the current 8 gym leaders, and the champion. Also, there shouldn't be a set order. If I remember right, you could pick when you challenged the Jhoto leaders in whatever order you wanted.

You could, for the most part (I think you had to face the eighth one last). I think a "Johto" portion would be cool, but if there is a set order, I think it should be different than the order of the "Kanto" portion.Blackson wrote:If there is a Jhoto added, it should only be accessible after you beat the current 8 gym leaders, and the champion. Well, if I reread the thread correctly, these were the big ones on the table. Correct me if I missed anything:
-- anonymous, assigned Judging
-- multiple Judges for a map (with possible pass/fail Judging)
-- preventing Judges from Judging the same Neditor for consecutive challenges
-- scrimmage thread
Anonymous Judging isn't likely. I get/send so many PMs over the course of a week that I get sick of the sight of my Inbox. Posting to NUMA with the 'nnrpg' tag provides an easier way to submit a challenge (by posting the link) and keeps all of the contest maps organized, which is good because, as flagmyidol said earlier, this contest has produced some great maps that are worth perusing.
Assigned Judging, however, is likely. It's looking like this: on Thursday, I will randomly dish out maps to the Judges who are available that week. They score the maps and give me the results by Saturday, so I can report to the challengers on Sunday. I really don't think we need to worry about judging by the author or bias or whatnot. The Judges seem to be pretty unbiased so far.
Multiple Judges, at this point, doesn't look likely, but it's something I'll consider for the future. I don't want Judges working on more than 5 to 7 maps per week. Estimating from the latest numbers, we'd need more available Judges or less submissions for that to work. If things work out that way in the future or we find that Judges can handle more maps in a week, we might go with the three-Judge idea.
If I assign maps to Judges, it will be easy for me to prevent Judges from scoring the same Neditor for consecutive weeks. So when the assigned-maps idea goes into effect, that'll go into effect as well.
And a scrimmage thread doesn't seem like too much to ask for. I was originally thinking we'd use this thread, but it's pretty cluttered. I doubt people will rummage through this to find potential scrimmages when the thread gets even more full.
Anything I've missed or you'd like me to elaborate on? Just ask.

you got everything phedi.
however, i feel that if you assign maps to judges, instead of them picking the oldest one, there may be trouble.
this is due to the fact that the judging is done by about 5 people overall really, and you have more judges than that assigned to do the job, correct?
so if you even distribute the maps randomly among the judges, the judges that have extra time, or a little more dedication etc. they will do their bit for the contest by judging their maps. however, that will be their contribution to the week over. also, the more "inactive" judges that are assigned might never get round to doing their judging. you will not be able to tell if this is true until saturday - in which case you wont have their results - and of course everyone wants their results by Sunday, leaving it too late to distribute the maps to judges that either have the time or the dedication.
hope you all understood what i'm trying to say, but i think the "must judge oldest map" rule would be better.

Do we post on this thread to tell you whether we are available each week? I doubt you want all the available judges PMing you all the time....
For the record, I will be able to judge this week.
