Hormone levels. In particular, HGH is released primarily during slow-wave sleep, part of non-rapid-eye-movement sleep. Also, dreaming occurs primarily during rapid-eye-movement sleep.
As soon as we wish to be happier, we are no longer happy.

All right, I'm starting this tonight and will be keeping a journal that I'll post later.

How are you doing; day 8-11 are the toughest.

Oh, I forgot to tell everyone how badly I quit this. On about day fivish, I had this intense gap in my memory where I did tons of shit (including attending school) but couldn't remember it at all. So, I quit and went back to regular sleeping and I've been sick ever since then.

Aww, that's too bad. Hope you get all good again.

Although I find that memory gap quite interesting. Anyway, how was it 'till then? Pretty tiring, I guess?

I felt fine, except for the gaps of time where I'm not sure how I felt.

Can you think of anything more specific that made you drop it? All you said was that you didn't remember large stretches of time -- does that mean that that worried you, or that you had some reason to stop that you now don't remember?

The memory gaps concerned me moderately, but Sabrina the girlfriend had more to do with me quitting because she was bitching about how I was going to die or some shit.

Hm, okay. I'm going to die alone, so that shouldn't be a problem for me.
As for my memory, it's always been bad, which leads me to speculate that memory loss will really be aggravated in my case and/or I won't notice it.
My biggest obstacle is finding two weeks of vacation time. I'm not masochistic enough to try this while I'm working and going to school.

Wow, a memory gap huh? I've only once suffered from anything nearly resembling amnesia, and it was when i woke up after fainting from loss of blood. It is indeed a strange sensation. I wonder how polyphasic sleep can induce such a side effect.
