Heh, I guess you should have eliminated more than 3, because now you're stuck with 27 remaining contestants and you probably won't want to eliminate more people in the later rounds than you did in the first round, but that means you're looking at 27/3 = 9 more rounds minimum (assuming no drop-outs, which is certainly a false assumption).
