What do your parents think of N?

Talk about whatever is on your mind, if it doesn't go anywhere else.

No idea. It's best that way.
Actually, I haven't played in a couple months, but it was like that a little while ago. Now I write in my spare time.

People write to me and say, "I’m giving up, you’re not talking to me." I just write them a simple message like, "Never give up," you know? And it changes their life

Don't know, ... *insert thoughtful reminesence here*
If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumbered here
While these visions did appear.

Orange wrote:N cannot be spoken, or even thought about in my household. If my parents ever found out that I have played N since the cleansing, my life would be ruined. I keep the game in a multi-passworded .rar on a USB flash drive inside a locked boron alloy container that requires two keys to open (I keep one under the 64th hammer in my piano, and the other one in a small section of removable ceiling in the corner of the attic) hidden in a wall compartment lined with aluminium foil to prevent sonar detection behind my 375 kg cupboard, which is bolted to the floor - the only way to reach it is to abseil outside the fourth floor window and use a screwdriver to unfasten the screws holding the secret brick in place on the opposite side of the wall, but the screwdriver must be a specific type like the one I own, since if any other screwdriver comes into contact with the screws, the entire building will explode, as will a seperate charge placed inside the boron alloy container, rendering the USB useless. Even once the container is retrieved, attemping to open it without the arming pin in place (which is kept inside the battery compartment of my Maglite) will cause the water reservoirs lining the container to burst and react with the caesium lining, causing the container to burst into flames - the only way to prevent this is to use the arming pins to shut off the reservoirs with a sliding steel door. The USB itself contains an accelerometer linked to an explosive charge, meaning that if the USB detects its own movement speed as being greater than 5 cm/s, it will explode - any person attempting to steal it would have to move at a uselessly slow speed. Once plugged into a computer, the USB will upload a ghost virus onto it, leaving no traces. Only the right password can deactivate this virus, and if it is left on the computer for more than six hours, it will format all drives.

As you can see, I take my N playing very seriously.
That's a pretty god setup, mine is similar.

For me, I keep it inside an 8GB USB drive, kept inside a metal safe, lined with my own ingenious combination of chemicals, put together in such a way that if you enter the wrong combination, i will set off the gas-charges I have placed in the White House sewers, causing Obama and all his minions to implode on upon inhalation. The safe is kept somewhere in Brazil, under the fifth rock next to the seventh tree behind the Choptuakalia village, the natives of which are under orders to kill, maim, and rape/kill all who may enter the surrounding five mile radius that is their camp. The only way to get around this is to say the secret passwords within the first five seconds of arrival, lest the insect god Dalluinga cast a plague upon your household, dooming you to a lifetime of misery at the hands of countless bugs.

It's happened before.

And, of course, this is all before you can even decode the password on the drive, which is encased in a small, plastic, electronic-friendly fluid, the name of which I shant disclose, that is mixed with a myriad of flammable liquids, to prevent overheating. Downloading the file will prove to be fruitless, attached is a virus interlaced with the actual N file that automatically downloads 7GB of horse and horse related porn onto your hard drive, and opens up one thousand thirty-six iterations of your default browser upon startup. It only does this, of course, if you enter one of the four passwords wrong. I'll give you a hint: They contain the words "Oddment" and "Tweak". But the order changes every day at 1:37 GMT, and only I know the rotation.

As you can plainly see, Orange and I take out N playing very seriously.

No they weren't! You get shunned forever for getting this wrong. The passwords were various candies. Oddment and Tweak were two of Dumbledore's "few words" at the beginning of Harry's first year.

To prevent this from being thought of as spam in any way, I will divert it towards the topic of this thread.

My parent's don't really consider N to be any different than any of the other games I play; that is, as long as it's not excessively gory and it doesn't involve porn, they don't care that much.

Myes, I quite agree, Orange.

Back to the topic: I don't play N, but my mom is aware of Metanet. She actually said to me once something like "Alex, you spend too much time on the computer. I've had to deal with those Metanet Forums for years now," but I forgot the rest of it. So yeah. She's mostly aware of it. And she's only just recently become aware of IRC and stuff.

Only /you/ can prevent forest fires.
No one can ultimately prevent forest fires.
Once plugged into a computer, the USB will upload a ghost virus onto it, leaving no traces. Only the right password can deactivate this virus, and if it is left on the computer for more than six hours, it will format all drives.
Complex win.

My parents don't really express their views. They bought me N+ for my birthday, so I guess they don't mind it. They just find it a game, really. They're probably more concerned about how much I play CoD4...
As for the forums, they don't know about it.
