Hi,

I am currently looking at Nhigh in order to modify/add function.

I've already added a Difficult Episode function (requested by golfkid).
I'll try to solve the problem of a score counting twice (like 43-2).
I'll try to add manually the correct score for kryx_orange, and modify other players in consequence. What is actually wrong in the ranking ?
So, do you want anything more ?

LIST OF SMALL MODIFICATIONS :
improved layout
added most cheaters/hackers/haters to ignore list by default (such that you don't have to do it manually, you can still remove them)
modified the program such that it opens the latest.hs file by default.


LIST OF CORRECTIONS :
correct the file problem (mac only) where it saves the hs table as 'latest.hs.hs' (add .hs each time)
corrected the rankings in order to get rid of double scores (like Kool' 43-2)


LIST OF MISSING CORRECTIONS: (MAC ONLY)
pressing <ENTER> makes app crashes when trying to load a .hs file (probably binding problem), instead of doing Ok_button function
shitty layout of 'Tool' -> 'Options' menu
many GUI glitches
configfile trouble

PS : I'm on mac. Does anyone else try it on this OS ? If yes, are you able to open (C^O) a file previously saved ? For me it crashed each time, so I have to load the rankings first.
This is annoying in the case I have to make test (like see if the rankings of the function I've just added is correct), because I have to wait for the download.
Also, apparently, on mac, you can't copy from the window into a text file... really shitty.

How about Total Score Rankings (Lvl/Ep) & Episode 0th Rankings? Do you think these are implementable? These are the ones I find more useful which arent implemented yet.

For total score, I can probably use 999_Springs' code because nhigh got the data from another url, and is made to only deal with a "HighScore Table".
Just print the output in nhigh window^^(and add a button/menu)

Ep rankings should be easy.

I am pretty stoked on this.

You seem to have most of the best ideas going already.
- Episode rankings
- difficult 0th-1st and 0th-19th episode, personally I think that you should add these, but rename them and their level counter parts already in nhigh to "Largest Spread" Level (0th-1st). And all of the proper names for all four versions.
- Then I think you should add "Smallest Spread" for all four versions because these are technically the difficult levels. like 5-2 and 61-3...etc. This way we can find the largest and the smallest spreads for levels and episodes for 0th-1st and 0th-19th
- Maybe a community total level and total episode score. For the total episode score just sum all of the episode 0ths, for the total level score sum all of the level 0ths and then for an added stat, subtract 36k from the total level score and then subtract the total episode score from that value, to get the difference between episodes and levels.

Since all of the hackers are gone, these are the only corrections I have to make to the nhigh read out.
0th Corrections:
Koolaid: -1 lvl 0th (43-2)
EddyMataGallos: -1 lvl 0th (25-2)
van_come_to_irc: 5 lvl 0ths go to vankusss

Yes, even though its not too hard to get this from the 0th rankings and the 0th rankings (ignoring episodes) and finding the difference, but its tricky to get a feel for where you are relative to everybody else. Having one button to get this will be very helpful.

Good work, you got most of the missing things but what about the difference between total level score for the level 0ths of an ep and the actual episode score. (For example named "Most Improvable Episodes") You could also do the reverse for a "Least Improvable Episodes" list.

Lol. I guess I didn't finish that sentence. What I meant to say was that if you look at the bottom of my highscore spread sheet you can see that I track the difference between the total episode score and the total level score for the community, but the problem with comparing the two is they aren't apples to apples. For the total level score that every seems to calculate you just sum all of the the level scores 00-0 to 99-4. As for the total episode score you just same Ep00 - Ep99. Here in lays the problem. When calculating total level score you are giving your self an extra 90 seconds per level. When in an episode score you are only given 90 seconds at the start of the episode and then it is a running total until you finish -4. So basically if you want to compare total episode to total level score you need to subtract 36k seconds from the total level score which is just 90*4*100. This gets rid of all of the 4 extra 90 seconds the total level score would have over the total episode score for any given episode.

Technically there is no reason why we should be tracking the total level score as approaching 20 hours/ 72k seconds, we should just be looking at 10 hours or 36k seconds. That way players could compare their total episode and total level score easily. But I suppose it is tradition to track the former. Plus 71k club sounds cooler than the 35k club.

How about the smallest spread for level 0th to 1st ? Do I make one with ties, and one without ?
Actually, you have a iist of 30 tieds 0th... maybe I should make a separate list of all tied 0th. And the smallest spread without including tie. (considering 1st as the 1st score with a smaller time)

I didn't realize that there were so many tied 0ths, so I think it is a good idea to make a separate list for all of those. Otherwise we end up with the shortest difference on levels as being a complete list of ties, and nothing on who actually won a frame war.

Another suggestion I'm just thinking of, maybe on the player's changes section (both 0th and top 20) have them listed in numerical order. The way it is now seems completely random on how they're listed, maybe its chronologically on when they were gained/lost? Looks good so far though, thanks for all your work.

so you can write a script to import all metanet runs into infunity db

and then you can write php to calculate ranking result on infunity and show it on php pages.

So players can check the web page result with ease, without waiting nhigh to download scores.

Will be great if n.infunity.com have all nhigh functions

eru, awesome job you're doing here, im loving that image, those new functions, :D I'f you're able to implement those missing things it'd be amazing, never imagined such a complete NHigh =D

I am not sure if you can do this since you can't get at people's .sols anymore since NReality has changed them, but you could probably do it similarly to how 999's script gets the total level scores for a single person. I just thought of this idea.

basically it is a personal improvement function. It would take your scores and compare them to the current 0ths and subtract, the largest difference would be ranked first, so you could get a rankings of your worst scores. This could be done for both episode and level scores. I think it would be a great tool for players to see what scores they need to improve to move up the total level/episode score rankings.

I think this is a good idea, I for one would use it once I get done highscoring the rest of the episodes I need to do. However, I would say to leave this for last since I can imagine trying to parse through the new .sol format will be difficult.

Another suggestion of my own while I'm here: a list of just episode top-20s. That would be helpful for people like me who really like to focus on episode highscoring. As is its really difficult to see which ones I still need to get.

It would be great, but I have absolutely no background in php... Actually, it seems too complicated for me


On the other hand:

I've added Raif stuff (great idea ! makes me see van' 84), and smallest diff with tie and w/o. So you get a list of 40 tie level and another list of 60 "framewar level" (actually there are more than 60 level wih only 1 frame diff, so I'll increase the value)

I've modified the program such that is doesn't count 2 scores for the same player in the same board. It should be correct every where, in the rankings and in the list (obtained by clicking on the player, different function), for both 0th and top 20 scores. I checked with Kool.

I've trouble to get a correct rankings (like merging van' and van_come_to_irc), so I'm not sure I'll do it (especially because it is case by case modifications and might change in the future)

@golfkid : I can probably do the ep top 20 list for each player

I'll see. I don't wanna work with the .sol file.
Apparently, the unsubmitted top 20 function still works, so I can probably use something similar to do what you want.
EDIT : Total Game Score too, so what is exactly the problem with the new format ?

I'll do a complete Total Score rankings such that every player who owns a top 20 (i get this list from nhigh) can see their total score.

Thanks. I try to keep/use as much as possible the existing code. I don't have a lot time (1-2 hours a day, more today), so I try to use it smartly.

I tried to do the Total Level/Ep Score Rankings, but there is too much names on the board. So, what do you want ? May I take the first 20 names of the top 20 rankings to do it ?
I'll have to add a progress bar anyway, and the possibly of cancelling the call. (it last about 2-3 minutes)

PS : I implemented golfkid's request. You can now see the list of a player's Ep Top 20, and a Ep Top-20 rankings

I'd say maybe do the top 25 or 30 of the top 20 rankings, and do only the first 20 of the episode top20 rankings.

Slightly related, I now have episode 2 to fill in that gap in your screenshot. I only got it tonight, so no fault on your end for not having it on there.

Thats a hard decision, hadnt thought about the long time of downloading, i wouldnt know what to say, maybe the progress bar and golf's idea would result in a nice result.

This is a pretty simple one I think you could add it. It wouldn't have any direct use, but could be used for possible random facts I like to throw in to the rundowns.

Could you just add a level 0ths and episode 0ths function. It would just list the current 0th (player and score) for each level and episode. No calculations on them, just a simple list.

Ok, I am not sure if I'll have a lot of time now. (December = exam soon, Christmas, Holidays, etc...)

So here is a BETA. A lot of stuff aren't working, so please don't un-comment part of the code and don't create call to non-working labeled method. Unless you wanna try^^

I didn't add total game score rankings (too long to download, too shitty to be add the way it is actually done (it's commented, you can un-comment^^))
A better version needs me to look at part of the code I haven't read yet (GUI)
I didn't add a function that allows you to compare your level score with the 0th. I can easily do it for top 20 score, not for your .sol score. Again, because I haven't looked at the code concerning the .sol yet.

Please tell any suggestion you have to improve layout, any typos you noticed, etc...

Everything is working awesome. I am so glad you did this Eru. You deserve a community recognition Dronie for this. Or at least fan program, but since you didn't technically make it I don't know if you are eligible, but you should be.

So I was thinking of a way around searching a person's .sol for my personal vs. 0th comparison idea. You could use the personal total level score function for a premade entry box if you dont want to make your own. I don't know how hard that is. and then basically have nhigh download that person's scores from the metanet web page and then compare them against the 0th and subtract. But I don't know how much work that would take. I am extremely pleased with that you have done already so don't feel pressured. I know how exams are. I am in the thick of them right now.
