Okay, first of all, I knew what subjectivity was when I was eleven. I'm going to be charitable and blame your ignorance on the public school system. Subjectivity, if you had taken the time to do a quick Google search you would have been directed to this highly informative Wikipedia article. To quote, "Subjectivity refers to a person's perspective or opinion, particular feelings, beliefs, and desires. It is often used casually to refer to unsubstantiated personal opinions, in contrast to knowledge and fact-based beliefs." The second section is the important one here, as any post I make here is of course going to be in casual language. "Unsubstantiated personal opinions" here refers maps, authors, etc. You hold some maps, some authors, in higher regard than others. As do I. As does everyone. But, you see, which maps are better than others is entirely subjective. It's completely a matter of taste. There is no scientific method of determining a map's quality. This is a important concept here, because lack of understanding it is what leads to all arguments about featuring, maps, almost always NUMA in general, even. It's kind of late and I feel like I'm doing a terrible job explaining this, but here's the really important thing: You have no grounds to complain about how many features any author has, or how they got them. You might think that said authors are being over-exposed while the authors you like are being under-exposed, but that there's that subjectivity thing again. Honestly, this is an impossible to win argument here, for both sides. It all comes down to personal, subjective opinion. You can argue 'till your face is blue, but it's really up to the other side to just see things your way all of a sudden, because no one's more right than anyone else, objectively. Subjectively, though, terrazza, you are dead wrong and an idiot. ;)

This is fine. Any good mapper will release that a featured map and the same map unfeatured both have the same quality.

I assume you meant "realize", not "release", but in any case this is sort of a given. You are just saying different people have different opinions, and featuring doesn't necessarily mean anything. Great. What of it? Are you saying the featured system is dumb and who gives a crap? If so, then why do we have it around? Clearly it serves some use. Does that use mean anything in the grand scheme of things? Probably not. That doesn't mean the system is useless by any means. And the more the reviewers use it properly, the more useful it becomes (and vice versa).

However, I acknowledge that other people think of features as big steps, and I'm also pleased that newer authors are getting recognised on a critical platform, as well as being given public support.

But, as I said earlier, they aren't getting recognized and they aren't being given public support. All they're getting is the label "I got my 15 minutes of fame!", without actually getting their 15 minutes of fame. Do you disagree? Look at those features. They're getting 4 comments apiece. That's not fair.

This was a big step, but trust me, the next step will feel much more natural and be much more controllable.

This is just a very odd sentence to me. Why are you referring to this period as a step, and why do you think there will be another such period in the future? And on what grounds do you think that this second such period will be more controlled?

I think the reviews should be slowed down, yes. 2 or 3 a day, hell even 4 or 5 a day would be much more useful. This is too chaotic.

I don't necessarily care that some of the reviews are lazy or that one or two of the featured maps were lame, because that stuff happens during the normal course of featuring.

On a critical standpoint, I meant their maps are being reviewed to, mostly, the same quality as anyone else's, which is one of the advantages of such quick reviewing. Of course, I see now that they aren't getting publically recognised, which is obviously a bad thing, and I agree with you their.
