Origami_alligator's rule gone a bit overboard?

Talk about the Nmaps.net website.

Gone overboard?

Yes, we do hate what origami_alligator did. Just shorten it down a bit.

No, just feature as many maps as you want whenever and clog up the featured maps page.

yungerkid:

maybe i should just stop reading these reviews -
almost all of them are of totally forgettable quality, and it's way too much hassle to try to keep up with them. it's nothing more than a mess. i am now going to skim the page and read only the gloomp and flagmyidol reviews. in my opinion, this new featuring system is going at too fast a pace. i don't like it.

Damn.
That happened with me today as well, but with 24 maps reviewed today, the odds are embarassingly high.

rocket_thumped:

GTM
I had it written, and was waiting for the last map to have some time. I didn't notice nevershines had been reviewed until after I submitted this review.

Guitar_Hero_Matt:

I much liked this map too.
But seriously, couldn't you have waited just ten minutes for nevershine's? He barely got quarter of an hour.

HYPOCRISY ON MY PART FTW.

It's possible that after southpaw reinstated everyone he forgot about techno and reinstated him as well. Or it could be that since everyone lost official reviewer status on Christmas.

Don't do that. Threads grow and change. While I don't think eganic's whining is anymore worth a thread than yours, it's a perfectly reasonable direction for this thread to take.

EDIT: Just noticed you actually made counter-arguments in that botched quote of yours. I'm going to ignore most of them because I've realized since my last post it's entirely pointless to put much effort into combating all this stupid complaining, but I have to address this:
Sorry I'm 11, iI have no idea what the hell subjectivity means.
Okay, first of all, I knew what subjectivity was when I was eleven. I'm going to be charitable and blame your ignorance on the public school system. Subjectivity, if you had taken the time to do a quick Google search you would have been directed to this highly informative Wikipedia article. To quote, "Subjectivity refers to a person's perspective or opinion, particular feelings, beliefs, and desires. It is often used casually to refer to unsubstantiated personal opinions, in contrast to knowledge and fact-based beliefs." The second section is the important one here, as any post I make here is of course going to be in casual language. "Unsubstantiated personal opinions" here refers maps, authors, etc. You hold some maps, some authors, in higher regard than others. As do I. As does everyone. But, you see, which maps are better than others is entirely subjective. It's completely a matter of taste. There is no scientific method of determining a map's quality. This is a important concept here, because lack of understanding it is what leads to all arguments about featuring, maps, almost always NUMA in general, even. It's kind of late and I feel like I'm doing a terrible job explaining this, but here's the really important thing: You have no grounds to complain about how many features any author has, or how they got them. You might think that said authors are being over-exposed while the authors you like are being under-exposed, but that there's that subjectivity thing again. Honestly, this is an impossible to win argument here, for both sides. It all comes down to personal, subjective opinion. You can argue 'till your face is blue, but it's really up to the other side to just see things your way all of a sudden, because no one's more right than anyone else, objectively. Subjectively, though, terrazza, you are dead wrong and an idiot. ;)

smiley face for the idiot hey? Well guess what, there is a person called an admin. And they are more powerful than a global moderator. They can ban people bullying 11 year olds saying they are idiots because the don't know the meaning of subjective. It's just a word. This whole topic isn't about the word subjective, it's about the feature map system. So I would kindly appreciate you to stop commenting on this topic.

Wow I can't believe I said that to a mod. I'm probably going to get in trouble by slappy or LV.

Edit: the bit about you're and your, I was typing that on my iPod and I thought it would automatically fix that bit it left it like 'your'

Christ, everyone, stop flaming each other.

Thank you, GTM, for actually putting together a legitimate response post. Unfortunately, I don't really see what you're getting at. :(
GTM wrote:This is fine. Any good mapper will release that a featured map and the same map unfeatured both have the same quality.
I assume you meant "realize", not "release", but in any case this is sort of a given. You are just saying different people have different opinions, and featuring doesn't necessarily mean anything. Great. What of it? Are you saying the featured system is dumb and who gives a crap? If so, then why do we have it around? Clearly it serves some use. Does that use mean anything in the grand scheme of things? Probably not. That doesn't mean the system is useless by any means. And the more the reviewers use it properly, the more useful it becomes (and vice versa).
GTM wrote:However, I acknowledge that other people think of features as big steps, and I'm also pleased that newer authors are getting recognised on a critical platform, as well as being given public support.
But, as I said earlier, they aren't getting recognized and they aren't being given public support. All they're getting is the label "I got my 15 minutes of fame!", without actually getting their 15 minutes of fame. Do you disagree? Look at those features. They're getting 4 comments apiece. That's not fair.
GTM wrote:This was a big step, but trust me, the next step will feel much more natural and be much more controllable.
This is just a very odd sentence to me. Why are you referring to this period as a step, and why do you think there will be another such period in the future? And on what grounds do you think that this second such period will be more controlled?

I think the reviews should be slowed down, yes. 2 or 3 a day, hell even 4 or 5 a day would be much more useful. This is too chaotic.

I don't necessarily care that some of the reviews are lazy or that one or two of the featured maps were lame, because that stuff happens during the normal course of featuring.

terrazza, you're spamming like there's no tomorrow. Please don't post unnecessarily, and especially avoid double posting - use the edit button instead. That said, nine out of your thirteen posts in this thread have been pretty much irrelevant to everything. It's a valid thread, clearly, just avoid these posts that don't actually have a point to them.

Thanks Avarin! I have a fewa responses but I'm kind of under time constraints right now so I'll come back to this later.

On a critical standpoint, I meant their maps are being reviewed to, mostly, the same quality as anyone else's, which is one of the advantages of such quick reviewing. Of course, I see now that they aren't getting publically recognised, which is obviously a bad thing, and I agree with you their.

Oh, about that, me and Southpaw have something planned that should be somewhere in the middle between both the former and current featuring systems. I don't want to give too much away, though... You'll find out on the 30th.

Oooooo! When it's all over, can someone make a userlevels.txt with all of the new featured maps in?

It'd be especially cool if someone could compile one for every featured map ever...
