If anyone's wondering, this is what all the "23" stuff was about -- but we realized that we were not as close to done as we thought we were shortly after starting that puzzle.

Yeah, quite a few. The main one for me is that sometimes I cannot go to a map's page, such as this one. I have the same issue as Meta, in that my profile doesn't exist, but I imagine you already knew about them.incluye wrote:Contact me with bug reports (there are lots).
One you may not know about it that I submitted a comment onto da_man894's profile, and it shows the comment came from him, not from me, which is kinda odd.
There are also a few minor layout issues, with the text/tags/demos/etc not spreading far across the screen, but that's not important.
Great work guys!
Fantastic work.

Top rated by time period (x hours / days / weeks)
Collab submissions -- a map can have multiple authors
Title search
User customizable themes
Map pack submissions (not working quite yet, kind of on the back burner but WILL HAPPEN)
Comments on user profiles
Bitesizing is back!
Search goes past 1000 maps (so you can go through all of AMLT's maps, for example)
Favorite Authors
Probably some other shit I don't remember

I appreciate the hard work you guys are putting to keep our beloved NUMA. I have one question though, do you plan on making it so you can scroll forward through an authors maps instead of only backwards?

Our goal will always be to make this as user-friendly as possible, though in some cases we'll have to crack the whip and say, "no" to some suggestions. Half ratings are back as well, guys, and also you cannot rate 0 anymore so that is a wonderful thing!TheRealOne wrote:It doesn't show who the author of the maps on the newest page are. That we are not on AppEngine and so are not limited by AppEngine's limitations. Like actually being able to change how many maps you see on a page, Favourite Authors implemented directly into the site, eventually Map Pack submissions (still working out how best to do this), title searches, half-ratings (no more zero's though), a time-based Top Rated system (# of hours/days/weeks/months/years and All Time), you name it.Universezero wrote:So, what's the benefits of this system over NUMA?
When we first started we asked each other what it was we liked about NUMA before its current state, we looked at the NUMA uservoice page and then took a look at what was necessary, what was possible and what we could implement after we created a functioning site. What you have before you is simply a testing ground for all of us to enjoy and try out. Once we start receiving feedback about how the site is working then we can begin to make it better and eventually equal to or better than NUMA.
Therefore we absolutely need and appreciate all of your help.

These are a result of an issue with the multiple author submission where the other authors are not correctly added to the map. They technically aren't supposed to exist but I'll log in and delete them in a bit but I don't have time now.romaniac wrote:The main one for me is that sometimes I cannot go to a map's page, such as this one.
With user does not exist errors, try logging in (with NUMA credentials) first, and then visit your own profile and see what happens.
I apologize for all this sucking so much, guys, but I'm already stretching Rails sort of far as it is. I actually had to semi-break the authorization plugin we are using to get existing users to show up, and the testing has been somewhat subpar due to my own laziness. Now that it's public we'll get more done, though, so thank you all for participation.

- Bitesized / Top Rated / Featured Maps / Favorite Authors / Active Authors: Might look better on the left-hand side.
- Some interesting chart ideas for profiles: a timeline for maps submitted vs. total ratings.
- Map counts on profiles should include delisted maps, and the author should have the option to make his favorites private.
- Commenting on profiles is a must. Possibly even having a mini-mibbit chatbox on the profile.
- Adding your own tags to maps which aren't yours. The ability to have private tags (only works if you're the first person to use the tag).
- Would it be possible to have sub-pages for authors, e.g. users/Aidiera/favorites or users/Aidiera/maps ?
- An auto-copy option for map data is a must. And the choice between plain map data and properly formatted data.
- Clicking an eye icon would signify that you were 'watching' a map (instead of faving it and coming back to it later). Or being able to 'watch' a tag.
- Instead of hovering over a thumbnail to enlarge it, you would click it.
- Deleting your own comments and comments on your maps. Possibly even wiping the ratings.
- Ability to favorite an author from a map page.
- A list of an author's most common tags, tag-cloud style.
- Being able to choose the maps which show up on your profile. Listing mappacks on your profile. Being able to download the mappack.
- Mappacks show up in your map listings, same as regular maps except viewable as a group (maybe through a tag, e.g. mappack:solitude).
- Browse your own top-rated/top-commented maps.
- While submitting maps, you should be able to add an author similarly to how you add a tag.
- Compare favorites with another author, or several.
- A better way to keep track of new ratings you get.
- USERLEVEL SUPPORT
- The favorite authors setup is incredibly brilliant.
- I don't think comment titles are working properly.
- While browsing an author's maps, the map data is viewable. Is this supposed to happen?
EDIT:
1211 wrote:I think it is a good idea to see who favorited your map , and/or the ability to send private messages.

There already is a messaging system with popup notifications, but it needs more testing (surprisingly) before I put it up.

1 - the box should be aligned with the rest, width wise. the design looks very fragmented as it is now.
2 - more alignment problems
3 - I'm not sure about these icons. They seem to crash with the whole theme, color-wise, since they're pretty much the only red element in the whole site. Also, although I don't have a proper solution for this for now, the tags organization is horrible - looks like they are just thrown there, with no proper square around them - also the distinction between the tags and the author's name (which I think should be more evident) is almost non existing.
4 - augh it looks so awful. I'm not comfortable with the fact it'll grow with the number and size of the tags.
about the whole theme, I've noticed that resizing the window to a thinner aspect ratio breaks everything. this would be fixed by setting a minimum width to the elements wrapping (holy shit screwed up phrase tell me if you don't understand it)
1 - it kind of looks like an afterthought, and since the login has it's own page, it would make sense for it to be in the big grey bar - unless you have plans to make the login a dropdown menu (which would be cool)
2 - i know what you're trying to do here, but somehow it isn't working, at least for me. and i've seen many websites where it works.
3 - maybe im being too picky, but i think it would look better if it was...black
4 - when you hover your mouse over this the black text glows - yeah it looks cool...but doesn't fit on the overall theme.
Okay this is all I've got till now. If you don't understand something, tell me. Also, this is just my opinion. You can and will disagree in some bits.
